HUGE THANKS to Attorney General William Tong for standing up to the business lobby and defending working people from being forced into captive audience meetings. Protecting working people and their rights is what leadership looks like. 💪
Today, A federal judge dismissed the Connecticut Business and Industry Association's challenge to our captive audience law, protecting employees from being forced to sit through political or anti union meetings at work. A major win for Connecticut workers.
@agwilliamtong.bsky.social has been at the forefront of this effort to protect workers from captive audience meetings for years. He never wavered. He never backed down. He was with us every step of the way. Great result today!!

So disappointing to see @jonathanlemire.bsky.social and @joe-scarborough.bsky.social drinking Starbucks coffee on @morningjoe-msnow.bsky.social set when hardworking baristas of @sbworkersunited.org are ON STRIKE, fighting for a contract. It's worse than crossing a picket line.
We are stronger TOGETHER. ✊ SAG-AFTRA President #SeanAstin & many #SagAftraMembers SHOWED UP in solidarity for @sbworkersunited.org baristas who are on ULP strike. We support them in their fight for a fair contract & an end to union-busting. #NoContractNoCoffee
As you're making the BIG grocery list this weekend, consider buying union-made. When you buy union, you're supporting: ✨ Good jobs in U.S. communities 💵 Living wages 🩺 Good benefits 🦺 Safe working conditions 🫶 Dignity and respect for workers These quality products are produced by union members 🧵
Baristas are on strike. So guess what? Starbucks doesn’t get a dime. We stand with the workers — not the billionaire brewing union busting on the side. #NoContractNoCoffee https://seiu.co/NoStarbucks
It’s time to #PayThePlayers what you owe them, WNBA. America’s unions stand in solidarity with WNBPA members as they fight for a strong contract that gives them the dignity and respect they deserve.
Pay them what you owe them! The Connecticut labor movement was proud to stand with members of the WNBPA at the Connecticut Sun game as they fight for a fair contract. Respect the players by paying them their fair share. (And the Connecticut Sun won 87-84!)
Under Reagan's tax cuts, the average tax cut for the top 1% was 68x larger than the average cut for middle-class households. Under Bush's tax cuts, it was 16x larger. And under Trump, 36x larger. The GOP has always governed for the privileged few.
The day after Lamont vetoed #UIforStrikingWorkers in CT, the Governor of Oregon signed a similar bill into law! And the Governor of Washington State signed their version into law last month. Protecting working people has only become more urgent since the Trump Administration has gutted the NLRB.
Another interesting (bad) move by Gov. Lamont. This is the second year in a row he's vetoed UI for striking workers legislation. Such a let down. 👎
Gov. Lamont has vetoed #UIforStrikingWorkers and once again sided with corporate CEOs over the hardworking people of Connecticut.

Senate President Pro Tempore Martin M. Looney and Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff issued statements today in response to Governor Lamont’s veto of Senate Bill 8, legislation to extend insurance protections to striking workers. Full statements ➡️ https://bit.ly/4k14bHO
Thank you to Sen. Martin Looney, @bobduffct.bsky.social and the Senate Democratic Caucus for leading the way and standing in solidarity with workers to pass SB 8. It would have incentivized employers to stop using workers' financial distress as a bargaining strategy, had Gov. Lamont signed it.

SB 8 prevents employers from bargaining in bad faith and forcing workers to strike. It passed the CT House and Senate overwhelmingly. Now it's up to Gov. Lamont. www.wfsb.com/2025/06/17/h...
Hundreds protest outside Governor’s home calling for protections for striking workers
Hundreds of people converged outside Governor Lamont’s mansion in Hartford on Monday night calling for more protections, for striking workers.

All out to #LevelThePlayingField! Tonight #union members & justice advocates took to the streets outside Gov. Lamont’s mansion in Hartford to ask him a simple question; “Whose side are you on - working people or corporate CEOs?” #UIforStrikingWorkers @aflcio.org
It's never too late to do the right thing. Gov. Lamont - sign SB 8! www.ctinsider.com/business/art...
Hundreds rally outside CT Governor's Residence for unemployment benefits for striking workers
Supporters of unemployment benefits for striking workers still hope the governor will change his mind on the issue.

This person wants to spread the good news of Christianity through a snide video mocking people’s fear of the deaths of poor Americans that her bill will cause. An actually loathsome human, and she’s a Senator no less. Dark days.
Absolutely bonkers — Joni Ernst doubles down on her “we are all gonna die” defense of Medicaid cuts while walking through a cemetery
At a moment when many working people feel ignored by both major political parties, this is a unique and meaningful opportunity for Gov. Ned Lamont to demonstrate his commitment to working class voters by enacting policies that protect them and their jobs.
The State House just passed UI for Striking Workers! The passage of this bill in both chambers with a bipartisan vote marks a critical victory for working people in our state. Now it's on Gov. Lamont to do the right thing. He can either stand with corporate CEOs or stand with working people.
Kirby Boyce, member of IAM Local 1746, joined State Senate leaders this morning to urge passage of #UIforStrikingWorkers: "We just ended a 23-day strike at Pratt and I’m sure that if SB 8 was in place, the strike would not have happened in the first place."
Gov. Lamont just threatened to veto our #UIforStrikingWorkers legislation. This veto threat sends a clear message: Gov. Lamont is more concerned with protecting corporate profits than supporting the working people who make our economy run.
