🗃️ Chirograph(y) ! I just stumbled on something probably well known to students of diplomatics, but all new to me. A 'chirograph' is a medieval document intended to be verifiable between two copies. To secure contracts from fakes, two copies were written on one paper, which was then... (continued)
Pop Quiz! 🗃️ How can you identify a Ghoul? 1. - From the mossy stench that follows them everywhere 2. - By the decayed flesh. Its honestly not difficult 3. - Despite shapeshifting they can't change their donkey hoofs Answer coming below ⬇️
Update on Ghouls 🗃️ Up until this point I had been convinced that the Ghoul entered western thought with Antoine Galland (1710's~), and lived a relatively non-critical existence. However, a US source from the 1920's tells of the ghoul following the Arabic original, rather than Galland's fiction...

🏺🗃️ Fisticuffs fact~ You may have noticed how old timey boxers stand with their hands far away from their head compared to modern day boxers. This is not a result of good posture or lack of technique. Instead it's quite simply cuz their heads were in less danger than they are today. [More below]
🏺🗃️ Obscure hist. fact In 1800's Copenhagen, different groupings had tense relationships. Often flaring up into brawls in the streets between students, the military especially, but between other groups too. But how could you reliably tell people from one group, from people from another? More below
