How do you teach craft? Where does it come from? I asked this to @curiouschaos.com at the end of Wireframe Live yesterday and here's her answer: "The foundational piece ... is that the person cares." 💡 What a great insight. I truly believe this is the thing that is separating us from the LLMs.
Chatting with @donnie.damato.design is the ultimate systems geek out session. I honestly loved this. Even though my "passion hives" were showing.

My current vibes have become more and more just "own your own shit". Like, are you asking for permission or a scapegoat?
Hot take: collapsible UI sections should mostly be reserved for things which are initially collapsed. Collapsing to avoid scrolling is slower than scrolling

Rather than the same old boring internet pranks, I thought I'd build something more fun this April Fools. CSS or BS. Can you tell your CSS properties names from BS? www.keithcirkel.co.uk/css-or-bs

Ugh! Im so tired of watching men pressuring women about having children by saying "you'd be a great mother". She wasnt arguing that! And like... no shit! But you missed the flipping point.
I finally updated my website to something at least somewhat pleasing. curiouschaos.com (Still vanilla HTML, no frameworks)

Robocalls now starting off by "clearing their throat". I still ain't buyin it!
Design systems are so much more than tokens! (and components)
My toxic trait is thinking that every compliment and congratulation is disingenuous or condescending
I'm having my very own @nerdy.dev moment by beating CSS at its own game.... Yes, you can use container queries with auto height elements! I gotta write this down...
Seriously though, its not as big of a story as NYC, but Virginia flipped 15! seats yesterday including the Governor, Lt Gov, and AG. We went from barely holding a 51 majority in the state house to 63! Take note!
Them: What's the standard for this? Me: This Them: I don't like the standard, can we change it? Me: For what? Them: For this custom thing Me: We dont have a standard for that custom thing Them: Then what should be standard for this custom thing? Me: Its custom, go talk to who made it! #designsystems

Here here! If there's anything 25 years of coding CSS has taught me is that the road to the present is filled with ways to write CSS that no longer exist and have died off. Regular ol' CSS is a constant that will always work, and will always be the most valuable skill. Hell, it's never been better.
I know tailwind already gets so much flak, but here's some more... It's failing our young developers. They're not actually learning CSS. CSS is transferable. Tailwind is not. This is my hill.
How do folks handle education around the topic of truncation? I find this is the fallback for designers who want "prettier" layouts and engineers implementing "responsive" design. How do you show them how terrible the UX of it is? Or force them to think through how users access the full content?
Hi 👋 Finally joined Bluesky! I know some of the design systems folks are here. Would love to connect and swap ideas. #designsystems
Contribution in design systems is mostly people applying a go faster stripe to their own car and then asking Honda to include it as standard.
I'm hiring, again! I'm looking for a strong (senior+) design-engineer (full 50/50 split) to join our design system team. Come bring the craft back to UI design!
