it’s been two weeks since Callie died from her injuries after being attacked by a loose dog. it’s been almost 13 years since I adopted her (Oct 25, 2013). despite the painful and unfair end, we had a good run of hikes, treats, snow, cuddles, floppy ears and swishy tails, and cats touching her butt
adzuki has finally succeeded in his jailbreak attempts and is OBSESSED with the cat bed. he’s like, why don’t we have this shit in the bathroom?
went to the dentist this morning, will need a root canal (this was pretty much known), went to urgent care bc my finger with the dog bite has been looking funky still. urgent care told me it was broken, sent me to the er. er has now said i need to go to the bigger er so they can open and drain it
little chickpea, my sensitive baby boy. in addition to the ringworm meds, he has antibiotics to treat a touch of pneumonia, and two eye meds since the ringworm meds have irritated his eyes. he also lost all the hair on his ears from the lime sulfur dips 😭

ok so l needed the hospital records for this report and I read the vet notes…and he described callie’s fur as unkempt? UNKEMPT??? I have never been so offended in my life!! what about this beautiful fluffy dog was UNKEMPT, dr ravi???

I'm not a punitive person and not asking for the other dog to be put down - I just want measures put in place, whatever they may be, so that this doesn't happen again

heading back home tonight - i’m not great but i’m functioning, and i miss my cats. i’m also picking up my foster kittens again tomorrow (dropped them off at the shelter for the trip) so they will be a great distraction

RavenMae@ravenmae.bsky.social · 2w agoMeet my new baby boy! I just adopted him today. He's 1 ½ yrs old, listed as husky malamute but looks & acts like a big sibe to me. And yes, he is missing an eye. he's super affectionate & just needed a husky savvy home with folks who'd pay attention to him. 🥹
I am so sick and so sad, and I am so so mad. Callie was 15, she should have spent her last days in comfort and peace, not have them end in violence and pain because of careless people. She didn’t deserve that. I’m so so sorry Callie. I loved you so much and I hate that I couldn’t protect you.
#UglyDogs we have a sad awooo to sing tonight. 💔 Callie had a seizure and passed very suddenly. Chris was with her. I know she'll be greeted by many new friends on the other side. Chris is a mess, obviously. But if you reply here, she can see it when she's ready.
this is a little hilarious, but i do still have the bean kittens here too, so i feel like i’m running a mini animal hospital 😝 i can drop them back off at the shelter if i feel overwhelmed though
callie’s doing ok today. she needs help getting her back legs up on stuff but is walking around on her own. she ate a little at 6am but hasn’t been interested in food since. i also changed her dressings, which was an ordeal for both of us (me mentally, her physically but hopefully just discomfort)

big news - callie was doing so well she got discharged this evening!! she still has several weeks of recovery ahead of her, but so happy that she can be home now ❤️
was able to visit with callie - she’s pretty out of it but vet said she’s starting to get more comfortable. staff told me she’s been very sweet and tolerant ❤️ we’re hoping she’ll be able to go home in a few days
for those who missed it, Callie and I had a very bad day yesterday, details below. Callie is recovering from at the hospital; she is on a lot of drugs and not comfortable but is stable. I’ll be able to visit her in a little bit

for a kitten with so much diarrhea, i am shocked (but pleasantly so?) that his fecal test came back negative for everything

psst you...yeah you...you wanna come pet us, right?? pet us!! with your bare hands!! we're so soft and fluffy! we definitely don't have any worms of ring! just soft fluffy fur to pet!
pinto is very social, very active, and loves using me as a tree to climb. he also has been having so much diarrhea. so much. sent off some stool samples for testing and he's on gi supplements now, so hopefully for all our sakes it'll be under control soon...
chickpea (and the other beans) are so pleased with their new wand toy - bringing it out after meds has helped chickpea not curl into his ball of post-meds despair, and has made him more willing to approach me
