one of the really useful takeaways from fukuyama's political order books is a clear conceptual understanding of what corruption *is* in its fundamental nature. and the answer... is patronage networks organized on personal connections! corruption is *inherent* in these discretionary systems!

Its so easy to avoid meat, animal products in general now. Impossible and Beyond foods, Just Egg, soy and oat milk are better than dairy anyways, really its just some cheeses that are tough to replace. I recommend it!

Personally i think the current system (armed agents of the state putz around and enforce traffic laws when they feel like it) is 1. morally fraught and 2. Ineffective for its intended goal
