Voluntarily severed ex-Professor of Bacteriology dabbling in creative things (music, images, writing [a silly children’s story & a sketchbook about old Lancashire towns]). From Chorley (originally). Might mention The Fall. craigwinstanley.online

To be clear, this is government & opposition in the country with the highest per capita prison population in Western Europe arguing over who is spending the most money in creating places for more prisoners (& not a hint of the usually ubiquitous ‘where is the money going to come from?)

Andy Burnham has claimed only 500 prison places were added between 2010 and 2024, but Kemi Badenoch says the Conservatives created 14,000 new places. Can these two claims add up? We’ve had a look at the figures 👇 fullfact.org/crime/how-ma...

The debate about the prison release issue never includes the normally ubiquitous ‘where’s the money going to come from?’ We have the highest per-capita prison population in Western Europe, but apparently it doesn’t cost anything. Or perhaps there’s always money there when they want it after all…

It would appear that leftist now means anybody with a passing interest in actual truth or facts, the merest hint of empathy for minorities or people struggling & some consideration for the future of humanity. But sure. It’s really important to add to the tsunami of shite from the other side…

Wow, The Harris Museum in Preston is gorgeous! A huge neo-Classical marvel with a wonderful art, sculpture, fashion and book collection And check out these giant golden doors (next post), and Foucault Pendulum showing Earth’s rotation And a new Horrible Histories exhibition by Martin Brown!

We should never forget how the BBC has changed this country by giving endless airtime to Nigel Farage and other rightwing extremists, while shutting out progressive voices.
