Chapter 5 still has a lot left to do, but it's already got the most lines of dialog for any chapter in the game (so far). Why did no one warn me that making an RPG would mean a LOT of writing?

Super germdove World? Sounds... familiar... *wistfully looks up and slightly left as the horn section comes in*
112 streaming days & 322/325 hacks down... my Kaizo Beginnerthon ends this Friday, Aug 21st at 8 PM ET! 7 months of spinning the wheel (Newcomer to Advanced) comes down to the final 3: • A race of The Wahn Stew Race vs Thirstforpower • Quickie World 1 • Super germdove World Nice shameless plug.
After Posey got into the trash MULTIPLE times, we finally child-proofed it. She is desperate for the treasures within. We thought we were forgetting to close the door all the way, but no, she had figured out how to operate cabinets.
The mall rats officially have names. Please welcome to the cast: Midnight Anura, Dark Pinion, and Geoff.
I am 100% going to be sneaking into my kid's minecraft world to create elaborate scavenger hunts that are slightly educational to play off her Boxcar Children fixation
Kiddo is playing Minecraft on her own for once. She's watched me plenty and understands the basics of the game, but she's only just now learning WHY I'm always after better tools and big storage rooms and such. There's probably a life lesson or something there, I dunno
Spiral Mountain, from Banjo-Kazooie! BK and Tooie really pulled me in as a kid. The worlds were compact but felt big, they did exactly as much as they needed to. I even planned out my own worlds for a hypothetical 3rd game! Everybody did that, right?
The best part of every paper RPG is the one where you wander around the defunct department store looking for a ghost, classic. Wow, it's just like TTYD. I'm live right now making THIS VERY GAME, wow. www.twitch.tv/dobbsworks
Chapter 5 is in progress! This has been a LOT of little interiors with very little shared resources between them, so I'm having to get good at whipping these up in RECORD time! It's a music store. With records and such. Hence the caps.
Making a bit of a tweak to the stream schedule. Sun/Mon/Fri streams are going no-mic, no-cam. Wednesday streams are now going to start 3 hours earlier (5 PM Eastern), and go a full 5 and a half hours. This change starts tomorrow with a nice long stream where we're going to start chapter 5!
Happy late 20th birthday to one of my favorite articles on the web: www.raphkoster.com/2006/06/03/u... This is a wonderful read that I keep coming back to, it really gets my brain excited about emergent systems and building cool things. I highly recommend it!
UO’s resource system
Recently, some readers asked for posts that were more game-design centered. Since there was talk recently of the virtual ecological modeling that a Second Life user created, I thought I might talk …

One of the greats! N64 was such a fun, experimental time for games. I loved just being in these weird worlds. Second Attack was, for a time, one of the few games I owned that @gamequeued.bsky.social didn't have in his vast collection.
May 29 2000, Bomberman 64: The Second Attack debuted on the N64 in the Americas! Despite being from a well-known franchise and including new bombs, games modes, multiple endings and companion characters...This game releasing on N64 in 2000 with very little fanfare led to nearly non-existent sales 😑
We've been having a blast with the Create: Aeronautics mod. Finally, after much trial and many crashes, we got off the ground in a heavier-than-air craft. And then crashed into the runway. www.twitch.tv/videos/27810...

Something a little different! Yoshi's Island, Athletic Theme. This is an old player piano that belonged to my grandparents. The player mechanism is busted and I'd like to get it working some day, but it still sounds good! It's got a wonderfully twangy, wonky sound which is great for ragtime!
Game dev streams are going to have to take a backseat. We're doing Create: Aeronautics tonight at 6 central. I am not being normal about it.
Uh oh... my biennial modded Minecraft playthrough is coming up. I couldn't resist Create Aeronautics any longer. This is pushing back everything else I want to accomplish by three months, easily.
"gosh i sure hope i dont lose my car keys briefcase and access badge today" - me on my way to work at the metroidvania factory
Snow deformation! Forming these little tracks was something that I spent way too long on, but I'm finally feeling good about how it's looking! One of the major goals was to make it easy to work with in later areas so I don't have to go back and fiddle with the code anymore. Fingers crossed!
I'm not "at a theme park," I'm doing environmental modeling research.
I wanted to add some ice slime enemies to the mid-game, but I realized it would make more sense if you encountered regular ones in the early chapters first. So now I'm going back and adding new enemies to chapter 1! Going to have to release an update for the demo soonish...
Doing a LOT of dialog writing for my godot paper-like RPG and it turns out that making a ton of quirky and interesting NPCs is HARD. Flavio is such a great example of the depth that side-characters had in TTYD, he's such a self-serving jerk and then blindsides you with his clutch diplomacy save.
FROG DANCE I was Seized By Inspiration from a song that @hillbillyal.bsky.social made and posted to the discord. Maybe I was just looking for An Excuse to not be productive. Perhaps I just like to use Emphasizing Capitalization these days. Who can say.
Come to think of it, we've watched this one. It's time to watch a podcast again, join us for our exciting 5 year Anniversary with your favorite Dummies, @germdove.bsky.social, @gamequeued.bsky.social, @dabbleworks.bsky.social and introducing LurkingTurtleGaming! youtu.be/5wceVqw_3rg

Who did it better? Flushed Away, or the Great Mouse Detective? They both feature rodents in London, but Hugh Jackman gave a performance for the ages as Roddy St. James! Barrie Ingham playing Basil of Baker St? More like Barely English! It's gotta go to Dreamworks here!
Lost in the groove, dancing to the beat of his own drum
hey so it turns out when you make a game you can just do whatever you want with the assets. up next, building the entirety of bomberman 64 out of frogs
my quest is to romance all of them even the horses
