What were once almost certain fundable scores have become coin flips and what used to be likely grants have become aspirational, leading to fewer awards. Another manifestation of how HHS policies have led to fewer awards and less science.
Ok, this new thing that the "grey area" proposals (Competitive Non Discussed) get bumped straight to Council without discussion, is total bonkers.

Folks writing grants, all grants: please fewer words and bigger figures (with truly legible captions and labels). Also, please more spacing and bullet points. For NIH grants: please, place your Rigor and Reproducibility section at the BEGINNING of the Approach, not at the end! Thank you.
