Am I just an old curmudgeon now or is 7:30am still a bit too early for lawn mowing crews to start working? Related: How early does a girl gotta wake up to read quietly on her porch?

White Sox fans by and large seem to be pretty on board with the Castillo trade. But I’m curious if Rays fans think acquiring Peralta is a good thing. On paper, I’m thinking it’s a bit disappointing, but I dont follow the Mets nor Rays close enough to have a very informed take. #baseball #mlb

Good morning. Relaxing with Ollie on the patio, reading a book, drinking the cawfee, thinking about my nieces at Lollapalooza and hoping the drizzle only adds to the vibe🧘🏻‍♀️

So looking forward to the Pope hat giveaway. “Still, a week sounds like cutting it close if there are any shipping issues. ‘I’m not worried one iota,’ Downey said. ‘We have the pope on our side.’” tip: bypass paywall using reader mode #whitesox #dapope www.chicagotribune.com/2026/07/29/w...

The story behind the White Sox pope hat

How does one even recreate a pope’s miter, let alone find a company to manufacture more than 40,000 of them?

Costco managed to deliver to my door right after the tornado passed, while the street leading in to my neighborhood was closed due to flooding. I appreciate reliable service and all, but that just can’t be a good thing right? Maybe we can be a bit more chill about delivery delays 😬

Very strange day today, culminating in losing power for several hours after a tornado came through the area. My town has a lot of downed trees and some roofs were damaged, but no one was hurt as far as I know. Thoughts are with Appleton and Menasha Wisconsin 💜 #tornado #weather

Debris in a park after a tornado went through nearby. This is a children’s doll with a broken head and stuffing coming out of it.A downed tree sprawled across a yard in front of a home.

Out for my walk and someone did a little honk when they passed by me from their car. I could barely see their silhouette waving at me behind the tinted window. I waved back and will have to live with the fact that I may never know who it was. 👋🤷‍♀️ (But I think we all know it was Frank)

The Sox are on record saying they hope to become Japan’s favorite American League team with Munetaka Murakami the way the Dodger’s are Japan’s favorite team with Shohei Ohtani. The Muneshot Sushi Push-Pop is a bold move Sox. #whitesox #chicago www.instagram.com/reel/DbJAgXz...

Ope, saw my pal Frank on the trail this morning. He said he missed me and gave me a root beer hard candy while apologizing for already eating the strawberry kind that I clearly like. I love older people.

#TIL Sardines are low in mercury because they eat plankton, while predator fish like tuna accumulate it by eating other fish. sardines several times/week: fine light tuna: in moderation albacore tuna: ~1/wk sushi tuna (often bigeye): only occasionally #sardines usa.oceana.org/blog/jeremy-...

Jeremy Piven's Mercury Scare

Actor Jeremy Piven has mercury poisoning from eating too much sushi (often two meals a day), forcing him to leave the Broadway play Speed-the-Plow. Piven, who appears in TV’s Entourage, suffered from ...

She did a company-wide presentation on the show and it was amazing. We’re both pretty good at picking out who will be the first to go and the last to leave based off the first episode. Tip: every season seems to have an overconfident ex-military man. Dont place your long-term bets on him. #alone

I bonded with a coworker from my last job over our mutual love of the show “Alone”, and we now have the kind of friendship where we won’t talk for 8 months and then as soon as a new season drops, we’re talking every week. 😆 Who says midlife friendships are hard?? They’re just DIFFERENT.

Making birthday plans with some of my fav people is always a lot, especially when your twin is your complete opposite. 👯 We debated 10+ restaurants over 2 days. I even pitched The Wiener Circle and got vetoed. Apparently we're doing something "nice" instead. #Chicago

From what I'm seeing in my feeds, Taco Bell is failing up. They served Cyclospora-tainted lettuce across multiple states, and people are praising them for "voluntarily" pulling it. Can't wait for the next outbreak so we know who's REALLY committed to food safety. #tacobell

Woke up and immediately thought, “Oh no, I can’t deal with people peopling today” so got outside-the-house chores done as early as possible while the masses are still in robes. Every green light was on my side. Groceries obtained within 25min. Bam! No people today unless they break-in.

The phrase "out of an abundance of caution" irks me more than it probably should, but it's on par with calling something "soiled." It somehow makes everything sound worse than it needs to.

Was supposed to get on the river today with friends but they were concerned it’s too hot. ☀️ I personally wasn’t worried about that part, but the wildfire smoke is an issue so it’s for the best. Out doing my morning walk and the haze is notable. 🔥 #chicago

Just a waterfall out in the driftless area of NW Illinois where the glaciers never flattened everything. A shockingly beautiful drive of hills, valleys, rivers, and cliffs. Finally checked out Galena, would definitely recommend for a weekend getaway outside of Chicago #thunderbayfalls #galena
