Just got a copy of my #IamNotaTourist paperback with a refreshed cover and subtitle! Love the new look! Pre-orders are important for authors so support if you can. Huge thanks to the HQ and @harpercollins.bsky.social UK team for making this happen ❤️
Excited for this conversation about Chinese food culture in Britain with the lovely Jenny Lau and Anna Sulan Masing, chaired by Lucienne Loh, for the British Chinese Studies Network and Centre for New and International Writing at University of Liverpool. Many thanks to Sietse Hagen for organising!
Had such a fun time at the @harpercollins.bsky.social UK Author Academy alumni event with fellow non-fiction OG cohort 1 participant & friend Lucy Fulford, author of ‘The Exiled’! Really pleased that this programme is continuing through to cohort 8, with NF tutor Liz Marvin still involved!
Had an amazing time at the @harpercollins.bsky.social UK author summer party last night at the V&A! Wonderful to catch up with my agent Imogen & editor Marleigh, and meet Felicity Yeoh, fellow Bubble Tea Writers group member! Fab opportunity to celebrate my #IamNotaTourist paperback out in August.
For ESEA Heritage Month in Sept, the theme is ‘Evolving Threads’ and I’m organising a contemporary textile art exhibition at St John’s College in Oxford to connect ESEA artists, showcase their work and have greater visibility of textile art. If you want to participate, check out daisyjhung.com/art
Today starts Refugee Week UK, and I thought I’d share my first hand embroidered artwork in a series about immigration. This is ‘Citizenship Requirements’, the 1st page of the UK citizenship app in thread & fabric, emphasising the explicit & implicit demands of being a ‘good’, ‘grateful’ immigrant.
Enjoyed giving this talk about East and Southeast Asian communities today at the University of Oxford EDI Community of Practice event. Lovely to spend the morning with such committed and caring colleagues.
Hard to believe it’s exactly one year since my book 'I am Not a Tourist', was published by @harpercollins.bsky.social. Been amazing connecting with readers about what the book has meant to them. Hardcover, e-book and audiobook (narrated by Katie Leung) are available now. Paperback out in August!
I’ve been volunteering at The Old Fire Station in Oxford to help out with their Koestler Arts ‘Through the Blue’ exhibition that’s on until 14th March, and wrote this blog post. Check out the beautiful artwork made by people in custody and on probation. oldfirestation.org.uk/2026/03/06/t...
Binge-watched Bridgerton for some indulgent escapism. The fab ESEA on-screen rep was long overdue and felt so meaningful - loved the Cantonese! Katie Leung did her thing as a villain with depth. She narrated my #IamNotATourist audiobook, so if you want more, there’s 9+ hrs of her gorgeous voice!
2025 was a monumental year with the publication of my #IamNotaTourist book & the East Asian artist showcase at Old Fire Station that I organised. Met so many amazing people this year! Got this 2026 peace diary from my fave radical bookshop to use as a gratitude journal. Hope 2026 brings you peace.

Self care? I don’t have time for that. — The Room - Psy
I’m guilty of trying to do self-care the “right way.” If I couldn’t meditate for twenty minutes, then I wouldn’t bother doing it at all. If I couldn’t do an hour at the gym, I’d wait for the day I cou...

Really enjoyed being ‘in conversation’ with Prof Yasmin Khan last week for the @torchoxford2013.bsky.social Race & Resistance talk! We coincidentally coordinated outfits! Thanks to the R&R team for the chance to talk about my #IamNotaTourist book and show my embroidery art pieces.
Enjoyed meeting friendly creative people at the Old Fire Station in Oxford for the Winter Open exhibition preview party last week. Check out the artwork on display until 20th Dec. 70+ artists and 130+ artworks, including my ‘Sheldonian’ hand embroidery piece!
