Makes you wonder why I use Proton VPN since it falls under Swiss jurisdiction and also is why I've been de-US things It's been proven before numerous times that it doesn't work but rather just asking someone to dox their information only for it to get leaked online

Bild

Reached my 1 year of being a Proton user And thank you @proton.me for the extra 10 GB storage Still remember joining the side of privacy since by that point last year I was really starting to degoogle and I'm grateful to still be here of being a paid user

People need to stop acting like they are trying to push AI Unlike Google DDG allows you to turn off the AI crap in the settings plus there's the no AI version which turns the features off by default (noai.duckduckgo.com)

Most AI isn't private. Protect yourself from prying eyes with Duck.ai, our private and optional AI chat. Duck.ai lets you chat with popular AIs, all in one place, with the privacy you deserve. Free; no account required.

New Privacy pack Yes I know DDG being US based but honestly at this point I don't really care about jurisdiction for a search engine cause the only thing I care about is my data such as my files and my photos cause I rather have my data protected under EU jurisdiction And Bing has gotten better

And yes while their data centers are based in the EU do keep in mind because Ente is based in the US those surveillance laws still do apply This is why I've been moving to services that are based in the EU cause not only because of the GDPR but rather have my data protected under EU jurisdiction

I am gonna be moving off of Ente and move to PixelUnion as it's EU based PixelUnion is a fork of Immich The reason is because Ente is US based and unfortunately fall under US surveillance laws despite their servers being in the EU

Since I've been on Vanillo long enough I've decided to start supporting them with the Gold subscription I am now planning on moving there full time for my content since I am supporting the company behind it As for YouTube as I've said due to its current state I am no longer posting videos there

And what's sad is that behavioral remedies these days is completely useless sure it did work for Microsoft after the initial structural remedy was overturned on appeal but nowadays it does not do anything to fix a monopoly Like look at AT&T's case in 1982 for example the Bells breakup did work

DuckDuckGo@duckduckgo.com · 2w ago

Imagine getting caught breaking the law and just... continuing. That's Google. Ruled an illegal monopolist in 2024, still running the same playbook in 2026 with no consequences yet. Congress doesn't have to wait on the courts. Pass the SEARCH Act.

Saw this on Threads and my god this again Google 😒 Like they were already ruled a illegal monopolist in 2024 and yet they are attempting to throw out claims of shutting out rivals like DuckDuckGo "Haven't shown no harm" says the devil that has over a 90% market share

Bild

It's crazy how most people these days bash Bill Gates And like for me after learning what he did to Paul in the early 1980s, his ruthless behavior to Microsoft employees and having affairs one being a female Microsoft employee and Epstein that also gave me a reason for turning against him last year

After testing Qwant I came to the conclusion that it's not very private and if you read their privacy policy they do send some data to Microsoft despite being a privacy focused alternative yes they have their own index but it's barely being used right now therefore they still heavily rely on Bing

And it makes me glad I ditched Google full time last year (and even now partially after they turned Search into AI) after learning about their predatory business practices with search I use Startpage now because I rather have my data protected under EU jurisdiction

Nearly two years since a judge ruled Google an illegal monopolist. Total changes Google has had to make so far: zero. That's what getting away with it looks like. The SEARCH Act can end it now.

Kind of funny how DuckDuckGo is the most popular privacy focused search engine when in reality they are a US based company which means that despite the privacy stance they too are also subject to US jurisdiction (PATRIOT, CLOUD, PRISM, etc) This is why I went with a EU based search engine

Lol the typo But still XP turning 25 next month (Released to Manufacturing which means the OS finished development and was sent to OEMs first for pre-installation on new PCs) and 25 in October for when it was officially released will hit me back with the nostalgia with the Bliss wallpaper

Neowin@neowin.net · 3w ago

Remember Widnows XP's default wallpaper, Bliss? It's only one of the most recognizable photos in history, and this is how the location it was shot at looked over the past 30 years. #WindowsXP #Bliss

Like my problems with different search engines DDG - US jurisdiction which despite their stance with privacy they still have to comply with the PATRIOT, CLOUD Acts and the PRISM program Brave - Questionable practices in the past Qwant - Sends some data to Microsoft Mojeek - Smaller Index

Dalmation@dalmation.bsky.social · 3w ago

Saw this on Reddit about Startpage Like what do you expect it's Google results in which quality has been degrading plus Bing from other privacy focused search engines is also shit as well as it's always been since 2009 Independent indexes are not great either so there's really no options there
