In July I passed my viva with no corrections. 🥳 It’s been a great journey with a project I thoroughly enjoyed: researching geolinguistic profiling in forensic authorship analysis with German social media data. Huge thanks to my supervisors, examiners, and chair. The funny hat awaits (December).

Here’s what the other talks were about: Antti talked about the initial turns by the police (what are you supposed to answer when they say “Police!”?..) Helmi about the distinguishing features of texts written by human subjects and Gen Ai And Dana about geolinguistic profiling using Finnish Twitter

Many thanks to Dana Roemling and Helmi Siiroinen for organising a panel on forensic linguistics in Finland. Although I can hardly claim to be a part of the body of Finnish language researchers, it was great to hear about what others do and to share a bit of international experience #AFinLa

This is us being very happy about the positive feedback for our forensic linguistics panel at #afinla2024. We have some more plans for FL in Finland. And no, it’s not starting a metal band, even though we look like we had a panel dress code.
