Last month, we refurbished 10 tennis courts in Crotona Park — the only public tennis courts in the Bronx with lights for night play. We stopped by recently to see how things were going. Thank you to NYJTL, USTA and Yonex for helping us deliver high-quality public spaces that New Yorkers deserve.
yes this! Why do we allow these companies to break laws and do nothing about it?
Just helping with editing here. These bots aren’t sentient. They’re doing what they’re programmed to do. OpenAI, a private company supposedly bound by laws, committed federal crimes.
So self serving. An admittance of their getting rid of an ombudsman/public editor but no reason why or attempt to revive.
Walter Cronkite: After liberating execution camps… Germans (who cried) they didn’t know…were as as guilty as Nazis…because they applauded when Hitler shut down (media) and said, ‘We don’t need to know. We trust our government...’ It’s our duty to know.
it's on the ballot. make sure you vote no.
Hell no to Prop 39, California! It would impose a mandate to provide government ID in voting to "solve" the virtually nonexistent problem of voter fraud while it would "cost state and local governments “tens of millions of dollars to low hundreds of millions of dollars” to implement."
I promised earlier this week I would write about this, and here it is. Russia is again running operations to help Trump. Its Matryoshka bot network, which is attacking several elections across Europe, is now attacking Dems ahead of the midterms. This is only the beginning
Russia Shifts Its Matryoshka Network Toward the U.S. Midterms
After a decade of Russian operations aimed at helping Trump win elections while attacking his opponents, the Russians are at it again and have shifted their focus to the upcoming midterms.

really important thread. Let's not forget how so many people try to take advantage of horrible things. Is wasn't all kumbaya, it never is.
I was a 30 year old high school teacher on 9/11. Please miss me forever on talk about how it "united" us. I spent the year fighting with casually islamophic coworkers (teachers!) and principals who were staging classroom "anthrax drills." It brought out the worst in the worst people.
Not a single word about how these tariffs violate both our WTO & USCMA obligations. Every time Trump does this, the NYT & other outlets simply write as if we live in an international vacuum, where the US has no obligations under signed, ratified international treaties. It's journalistic malpractice.
President Trump signed an order imposing a 50% tariff on a wide range of goods from Canada, including hockey sticks, wine and cement.
I highly recommend reading “Ordinary Men” by Christopher Browning if you want to understand how truly ordinary men function
🧵 This piece is really important, because it gets to something that is a prerequisite for and recurring feature of atrocities worldwide: selective empathy. Most people assume that when atrocities happen, it’s bc everyone involved is a sociopath. Some are. But not all. 1/
sobering article that confirms what I've thought for a while. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Black people are giving it these Confederates raw and uncut. This is how it’s gonna be now. You wonder what we’re thinking? It’s this. I believe this is activist Gary Chambers again in Louisiana.
I hate that is has come to this, but he is right
Reminder: Last July I said Democrats need to be prepared to gerrymander as many as 30 seats.
she's not at all wrong. Dems have been bringing words to gun fights for too long. Work across the aisle for change and progress, fight fire with fire until then.

A “former Palantir executive recently confirmed what many have long suspected. In a public stmt, the whistleblower said it plainly: Palantir intended to take over the US government, & many of his former colleagues are now installed inside the federal apparatus. He called it an occupied nation.” 1/
The US is technologically inferior. BYD's new 'Blade Battery 2.0' can add 400 km range in 5 minutes (70% charge) or full (97% charge) in 9 minutes. If the US invested in infrastructure for people instead of war, like China does, we could also fill our electric car batteries up at 1500kW stations.
what incredible hubris. I absolutely understand the Silicon Valley training of move fast and break things and understand why these people in that context might say such things, but the idea that they don't understand the incredibly different context they are working is in mind boggling!
DOGE canceled research grants because they mentioned LGBTQ. The person making the call had no experience reviewing grants and admitted no research informed the decision. And this is the incompetence making federal funding decisions. #SheShed #Voices4Victory
What does it mean to “appreciate their sex” mean, why is it in the states interest and how does that sit with the constitution?
1. Horrifying ruling out of the 4th Circuit. An all-Republican 4th Circuit panel has just ruled that states can compel trans adults to "appreciate their sex" by enacting care bans. It even directly says that trans adult care bans are legal in the ruling. Subscribe to support our journalism.
What are the chances that the intelligence about the US military that Russia is providing to Iran was initially provided to Russia by its obedient lapdog, Donald J. Trump?
