Academic BlueSky is becoming an echo chamber about AI. Like a monastery chuckling about how the printing press can’t embellish a letter with gold leaf.

I haven't seen a definitive answer as why WattPad is implementing the new rules, but there's two obvious incentives: they have an official app and need to be in compliance of all app store policies (see: tumblr) and they have WattPad publishing and want to be more attractive to investors.
