For fun I created this cute infographic that illustrates the concept of Progressive Disclosure in Agent Skills. The technique here started with a pencil sketch, then I polished it using traditional digital art methods and applied final art with Nano Banana 2. TL;DR: use the best tool for the job :)

This has been easily the most important talk I ever made. It is also a very niche one, so not everyone will appreciate it. Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun delivering it and I hope to do it again anytime soon. What do you think? Is generative AI pure slop? speakerdeck.com/danicat/gena...

GenAI and Art: Is it really just slop?

Small update on the Megadrive *rally game* ? I added sprites and did some optimization so CPU is still at 70% usage with a stable 60 fps. I'm a bit disappointed by the sprite width limit per-line. I wanted a lot more dense vegetation but it's not possible with sprites. I'll try other methods.

How do you feel about AI voiceovers in HUMAN-generated content? Every talk I do there is always someone asking: is it going to be recorded? Which often the answer is no for several reasons. I would still write the script but it won’t be my voice… how do you feel about this?

Happy Monday everyone! It is a lovely weather here in the UK and I'm currently preparing for what is going to be the busiest week after I joined Google. Tomorrow I'm flying to Berlin for not one, but three events: the Google Developers Community Summit, I/O Connect Berlin and GDE Summit Europe!

Everyone thinks AI changed the whole software engineering pipeline to just: Prompt ➡️ Merge ➡️ Deploy. But AI only does one thing: Implementation. If you skip gathering requirements, testing, security, and monitoring just because an LLM wrote the code you are just generating tech debt faster.

im trying to share more content here regularly but im conflicted if it is worth the effort. if this account doesn’t massively pick up a following in the next couple of months I think i will just drop it in favour of LinkedIn and twitter

I’m preparing my most divisive talk yet: “Generative AI and Art: is it really just slop?” While those who know me probably already know where I am going with this I’m curious to hear your opinions! Is AI art art or slop?

Among other things, I spend the last 8 hours banging my head against AGY CLI so you don't have to do so. I'm particularly frustrated with the plugin system, as it is nothing as robust as Gemini CLI extensions. Importing hooks and sub-agents failed completely.

Today is the big day! Soon Google I/O 2026 will begin with many new product announcements from Google. The keynote starts at 6:00 PM BST and you can watch it on YouTube! I'll be posting about it later today and over the course of the week.

Starting in 10 minutes, join us on discord for a session about our top 10 codelabs from Cloud Next 26! This is an opportunity to talk about the recent announcements, plus you are taking home a curated list of codelabs to start developing some new skills right away! discord.gg/dMZ9a5wx?eve...

This has been one of the most interesting developments I've seen in the AI coding space. No one other than Milla Jovovich - yes, the movie star - released out of nowhere a new open source project called *mempalace*, a full fledged AI memory system which is performing very well across all benchmarks.

I took a two weeks break from socials due to a small surgery but now I'm slowly getting back to work. Did I miss anything important? I suppose not, after all, *nothing* happens in this industry in such a short time, right? ;)

I know I'm reaching the deadline that I promised about talking about Sharon (my AI Executive Assistant). While I still don't have a full featured article about her (working on it!), you can have fun building your own executive assistant following the steps in this codelab: goo.gle/codelab-clou...
