1. Ukrainian soldier shoots at a nearby russian drone. The subsequent explosion must hurt.

Ukraine has systematically targeted russian air defence, and pretty much everyone (including me) predicted that the situation could rapidly change once these defences were sufficiently degraded. The result is still surprising though. This is like watching baby seals being bludgeoned.
🇺🇸Trump: Would you go to Moscow? 😄Zelensky: It's difficult. There are a lot of Ukrainian drones there. 👀Reporter: Will you go to Ukraine? 🇺🇸Trump: I would. I would rather have the war be over.
Ukraine continues to hit electrical infrastructure in Crimea. Unfortunately, it was partially cloudy the night of July 5 but obviously russians are struggling to keep the lights on. The city of Yevpatoriya is dark.
1. Ukraine has been targeting substations and other infrastructure in Crimea. The NASA Worldview data lets us see the effects on night-time lighting. An image from May 10, 2023 shows there was plenty of lighting (light pollution).
This is an enjoyable video by Operator Starsky on how russian brains are reacting to their fuel crisis. That is, Stages Of Grief Explained
Dear friends and family! What happens when russians face fuel shortages and consequences? Let's examine six stages of the russian fuel grief in the new update! youtu.be/uCOx713noo0
1. There must be some sort of geolocation award for a video showing the results of a Ukrainian attack on russian trucks. There are two burned trucks along with an air-defence vehicle.
A video showing the Behemoth drone by Culver Aerospace. In a few days, I will release a story on this drone.
1. This is a toy drone that looks disconcertingly like interceptor drones seen in Ukraine. Yes, we are aware that this is a toy and not a weapon - at least not a very good weapon. A larger version with different, but off-the-shelf, electronics would be much more capable.

I took this photo in a parking lot (it's not AI). Apparently, only defence lawyers can park here.
Let’s talk about Crimea. Because Putin wants you talking about everything else. NATO. Nuclear threats. Belarus. Escalation. Red lines. Anything except the one issue that could become the greatest strategic failure of his entire reign.
Mark Carney talked about Ukraine and Canada to the Economic Club of New York. What he said is quite interesting. An excellent summary is provided in this thoughtful, well-written article: ifloz.substack.com/p/mr-cool-ca...
Mr Cool, Calm and Fucking Collective
While Trump's peace deal got wheeled into the morgue and Russia firebombed Kyiv, Mark Carney calmly explained to a dictator that the numbers don't care about his feelings.

This guy is quite knowledgeable about oil and energy markets. If you're are interested in how the war in Iran is affecting energy, he is worth following.

While a russian was being chased by a Ukrainian drone, a second drone flys in. Notably, the second drone is controlled using a fibre optic link. There are many such videos showing two drones attacking a single russian soldier with a predictable outcome.
$350 billion is enough money to buy every active F-16 fighter jet and every active M1 Abrams tank with enough money left over to buy every Black Hawk helicopter, several aircraft carriers and some nuclear submarines. However, the USA sent zero F-16 fighter jets and thirty-one M1 tanks to Ukraine.
I have started moving my old threads (with updates) to Substack. Of course, new threads will be published there as well. This is partially in response to X turning itself into something I don't understand. Please give me a follow there. open.substack.com/pub/danielrp...

Listen to the engines on these Ukrainian Liutyi drones and note how slow they are flying. Possibly, speed is being adjusted to maximise the dones' range and payload.
Some Russians are getting fed up with the war. This woman describes is as living in a horror movie as Dr One's squadron of Liuty UAVs flies on unhindered towards another target, one after another.
Really interesting comments regarding the Iran war. It's worth watching to get a different perspective on this highly complex conflict.

In the latest news, everything is fine. Nothing to see here. Move along.
"Iran has just announced" tells us that it is Iran, not the USA, who is controlling events. "Strait of Iran" confirms this. The USA is a bully who kicked a dog only to find out the dog has very sharp teeth. It will be interesting to see what concessions the USA makes.
Trump on SoH:
A Ukrainian FP-2 drone nearly collides with another FP-2 drone while flying over a russian air defence system that was destroyed earlier by a Ukrainian FP-2 drone. Ukraine has been quite successful at destroying russian air defences with these drones.

1. Twenty-three years ago I held a Canon A10 digital camera up to the eyepiece of a cheap 60 mm refracting telescope and pressed the button. This is the photo I captured on that cold winter night. It was far better than I could have ever got using film.
1. On December 2, 2025, the russian tanker Midvolga 2 (IMO: 9735139) was hit by a drone in the Black Sea. Was this a false-flag operation?
🇨🇦 Fuelled the car today (March 21, 2026). For USA citizens, this price for regular corresponded to US$4.25 per US gallon. These pump prices have no meaningful effect on my life but higher fuel prices will increase the cost of everything else including food.
1. Many people have reacted strongly to a video showing production of Shahed-136 (Geran-2) drones by a Chinese company. However, focussing on this company misses the more important aspects.
