Some congressional Democrats (or their staffers, I guess) follow me on here, so let me speak directly to them: The media isn't going to do this on their own. But if you make it an issue, they might just be shamed into forcing your GOP opponents into discussing the fat racist elephant in the room.

This is insane. When I was in first grade my parents let me walk 3 blocks to school in the mornings, and home after it was over. The independence that I got as a child helped me so much in my life. No parent should face charges for something like this, let alone be convicted!

Speaking to reporters, Mullin insisted that “ICE isn’t there to patrol the polling places,” but said agents could nevertheless enter voting locations in certain circumstances.
If DoJ wasn't an Exec branch component but was instead located administratively within the Judicial branch, these kinds of threats could never materialize. You can't protect fundamental rights by relying on norms, only through countervailing power. We're paying the price for a flawed USG structure.

For many years, ICE didn't have its own medical claims processing for detainees, running 3rd party medical bills through the VA's system. Last year, right-wing influencers convinced the Trump admin to abruptly cancel this contract. With no replacement, ICE specialized medical care has gone unpaid.

This is so basic. It is not USPS' job to decide whether ballots are eligible or not. That's the job of the state election officials. USPS' job is simply to ensure that the ballots get from election officials to the voters and then from the voters back to election officials. That's it.

Nationwide, it's clear ICE doesn't care about the health of the people they detain. The lack of accountability is unacceptable. At Delaney Hall and other facilities, people are suffering without proper medical care. They deserve so much better – that's what I'm fighting for.
