☠️🍄The world's deadliest mushroom has been hiding a secondary metabolite secret! The Keller, Drott & Pringle Labs just published in @pnas.org: leaderless RiPPs, a peptide class never before seen in fungi, found in Amanita phalloides and linked to its Californian invasion. www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
Trump's 2027 budget proposes cuts of: 🔻 $5.8 billion to NIH 🔻 $5.6 billion to NASA 🔻 $4.8 billion to NSF 🔻 $4.6 billion to EPA 🔻 $2.9 billion to CDC 🔻 $1.6 billion to NOAA If these science cuts pass they will make the US a less healthy and less safe place to live.
Equipped for success: genomes and metabolomes of the European Amanita muscaria are conserved in its novel South African range
Equipped for success: genomes and metabolomes of the European Amanita muscaria are conserved in its novel South African range

Proud to be a Keller Kid!
Some reflections on #Fungal26 This was a great meeting as always but set against some turbulent times of course, which meant many regular attendees were not present. This thread is mainly for them. However, the proportion of first-time attendees was very high and very international. #Fungal26 1/15

Here is a graph with dollar amounts of funding committed. The curves look very similar to those based on the number of awards.
Is there a version of the chart follow the dollar-value of the grants? Is it fewer-bigger grants or simply - as I would guess - straight up less money going out the door?
