Writer, parent, software engineer, aspiring game developer. My goal here is to follow other creators and post my own work; I'm more active on Mastodon. You can find my work linked from or published on my website: https://daphnestar.com

Flight attendant: Is there a code doctor on board? Me: What, a software engineer? Sure, but... FA: The passenger in 17C crashed production ten minutes after take off and they've already burned their entire annual token budget trying to fix it. Me, sighing: Hoo boy, I'm on my way

I have Thoughts™ about game design, but they're not refined enough to put into a blog, and putting them into a game is too slow. I don't want to throw them to the Discourse Wolves... Maybe I'll put them out on Mastodon?

Abi Thorn's Amnesty win came up in a Discord yesterday, leading someone to watch her conversion practices video for the first time and then comment "thats weird, I seem to have broken my mouse in a rage." Anyway I edited a comic about it; enjoy

An edit of Stupid Twink's "weed that makes you gay" comic.
Panel 1: (green person) "my mouse is broken"
Panel 2: (blue person) "is it because of that video?
Panel 3: (green) "oh yeah, lemme check if I accidentally watched the fucking video that breaks your mouse"
Panel 4: (green, looking at the thumbnail for Abi's video) "oh fuck"

I think it's time to start a creative/dev blog. Because I typically have two to five projects going in my head at any given time, and while I like posting WIPs, my energy level waxes and wanes and oftentimes what I've been working on is design work. That's still dev work!

I watched the footage of Orion passing through the dark side of the moon, and of course I teared up a bit. It was beautiful; truly awe inspiring. But I knew to tune in because of folks here gushing about it on their timelines, and that's beautiful too. 💜
