Heading out for a first holiday since 1.5 years on Dark Bio, so didn't want to ship anything last minute... ...but end of July will see both the founder series Arks shipping out (request to but one at founders@dark.bio) and the emulator may also land 🔥. Back in a few weeks 🏔️
ArkOS v0.11.3 released (requires Ark I device) and available via the official Ark Hub.
ArkOS v0.11.2 released (requires Ark I device) and available via the official Ark Hub.
With the latest indexing, writing genomics apps against the Ark became a lot nicer. Below is the *full* source code of an app that can tell you whether you're genetically sensitive to cilantro (i.e. tastes like soap to you).
Q: Why would you need an open genomic platform, when AI will solve everything? A:
Sneak peek of what s23b is working on currently 😍 (i.e. Ark I emulator!!)
Founder's series Ark I with bundled stand as a gift 🖤 ¹ This is a photo, not render, not AI ² The bundle is 1 box of each, not 2
Seems I will be giving two (!) talks about @dark.bio in Berlin soon: - 14th of June, Neo-Cypherpunk Summit (@web3privacy.info) - 16th of June, Futura Camp Come say hi :)
Dark Bio whitepaper is out! We're building a system in which a person's health data, their genome most of all, no longer has to live with a custodian to be useful. A system, where data does not move, rather stays on a small device the owner holds.
We've just added a waiting list sub our homepage! Join if you want to be notified of news related to the Dark Bio project, the Ark I enclave or the genomic platform we're building out.
Per out transparency policy, we've published the public keys for the Ark I `friend` and `founder` series: secure boot-, firmware update- and device attestation keys. github.com/dark-bio/tra... The `friend` series is a limited edition gift to select people, paid by @karalabe.bsky.social.

I’ll be at ETHCluj with my Dark Bio Ark today, if anyone wants to see a live demo of what it can do 🔥 Come find me around the coffee area!
Did you know the human genome is 3.2GB in length? The pinnacle of civilisation, an ode to the ingenuity of nature, a complexity we can only hope to one day understand... Then there's onion with 16GB =)
Peter's slides from yesterday's ETHPrague conference talk is up! "Self-sovereign genomics, turning biology cypherpunk." Mind you, due to the presentation software not working on mobile, the pdf is a collection of flat screenshot. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ talks.dark.bio/2026-ethprag...

The Dark Bio: Ark Companion mobile app has been published in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store! ❤️🤍 Do note, it requires an Ark to pair with. Without a device, it's mostly dud. Links in the following posts:
Founders edition pre-production operational. Waiting for some final components to arrive and placing the order for the electricals for the Ark I.
Mechanical parts done, just unboxed them, feels like xmas 😁 Will leave the measurements for tomorrow, otherwise I’m not gonna sleep if I find an issue 🫠 Cc @dark.bio
Our teaser was getting stale... so we made a new one 🤭

We are putting together an initial batch of these (25 pcs) and they should be ready in about 6-8 weeks depending on suppliers; barring last minute fuckups. We're looking for people who would be interested in playing with them; but who can also afford to support the project. 🧵
First picture of the USB-C version of the Dark Bio - Ark I, running on our fancy demo dock! 💚 Can't believe we have to state this, but the image is a picture we took on a 3 year old phone. It's not render, it's not AI, and it's not post-processed. What is the world coming to...

A week ago we've gifted our first production Ark and on Thursday we've show its recipient how to use it. Today they've sent us this screenshot, a genetic diabetes analysis. Ran on an Ark, privately, with 0 data leakage. 🤯 Slow at first, then all of a sudden... 🤍❤️
As a commitment to transparency, we've created a repository of our signing keys and operations. The repository also includes YubiHSM and YubiKey provenance attestations, signer certificate chains and full audit logs. More in an upcoming blog post.
