I'm hoping there is still a path to get the full grand jury transcripts, because seeing Pirro in front of a Bar disciplinary board would scare the bejeezus out of some of the Trumpists. Imagine still having to pay for law school, but not being able to work as a lawyer

Ripple effects: Three people have Reflecting Pool charges dropped after Hearn request

Federal prosecutors moved to drop their case against David Hearn, blaming Reflecting Pool damage on a "botched installation" rather than vandalism. That has implications for others who were charged.

I shouldn't have to explain to a senior developer, that when we make a decision in a private discussion, going against that decision publicly doesn't really make for a trusting culture on the team *sigh* And it takes so much effort to communicate it without letting the emotions derail the convo

We need Grand Jury reform. Not necessarily someone to advocate for the accused, but someone to advocate against the prosecutor's case. To find the places that they are testifying rather than presenting evidence and show when they 'misinterpret' the law.

The government had accused David Hearn of ripping a piece of sealant after a $14 million renovation. Hearn has repeatedly said that he simply touched the water in the pool out of curiosity last month. n.pr/4fwMK31

Got some bad news today, my contracting job won't lead to full time work in the foreseeable future. So yeah. But a former boss is hiring she we had a good relationship, so wish me luck.

There are 2 definitions of contempt, the legal and social versions. So, legally, he showed up, he responded, he didn't waste their time (they called the meeting, so that responsibility is theirs). But this DoJ is gonna go after him. Socially, yeah he holds them in contempt. He's not alone 👋

Sen. Rand Paul is moving to hold Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress after he invoked his Fifth Amendment rights. And, the Trump administration has announced a new rule for the asylum process. n.pr/4yMRAAD

The Missouri Attorney General is threatening librarians with arrest over an LGBTQ+ story hour for kids, suggesting that a picture book about gay dinosaur dads is "pornography." The Secretary of State says he'll pull funding if the event happens, citing the state's new age verification law.

Boone Regional Library in Columbia is hosting a “queer-led story time” directed to toddlers and preschoolers, with time to “meet new friends” afterwards.

We’ve sent a notice to the library reminding them that providing pornography or sexual material to minors is against Missouri law.

You want to know who protected us better in 2020? Get a graph of the infection or death rate per 100k state by state. Then label the lines by the party of the governor, and compare to the national average. So many blue lines under the average (good in this case), so much red above

All the Fauci stuff is a modern day version of the POW/MIA stuff after Vietnam - a way to try to rewrite the history of a huge failure of conservative ideology to be instead a story about how liberals and foreigners stabbed us in the back.

Just in case you still use any Basecamp products, DHH is crashing out about his AI product gently pointing out that it’s bad for him to have extermination fantasies about the Roma people.

DHH tweet saying “This is why we need competition and open weights in Al. Imagine a world where only Anthropic sat as the moral arbiter of acceptable speech. Fucking ridiculous. (Grok of course did it no problem, same too with Kimi K).” when presented with his blog post using a slur about the Roma people.
