It never ceases to amaze me that despite all the evidence that corporatist politics and politicians are anathema to the current electorates, the centrist politicians will still name drop Hilary Clinton to show off how establishment they are 🤦

Ed Davey has revealed to PolHome that Hillary Clinton privately told him to "stand up to bullies" like Reform In an interview with @zoecrowther.bsky.social, Davey insisted he was the best person to lead the Lib Dems, and said that the party could pick up traditional Green voters put off by Polanski

Peter Magyar is still pretty right wing. The underreported story here is that this election was contested by three parties with SEVEN announcing they weren't running at all to give him the best shot at beating Orban.

Holy fuck! I know there’s a lot of bad stuff going on in the world right now but I just realised something truly shocking… Euro 96 was fully 30 years ago 😮😮😮 Gaza’s goal against Scotland remains the finest goal I’ve ever seen (except Kanu in the 2008 fa cup final for different reasons)

So I watched ‘crime 101’ the other day on #primevideo… it is a film that’s stayed with me…but not in any good way. 😆 I keep catching myself thinking about it &mulling over how it is possible to make a ‘heist thriller’ quite so bland and uneventful. Also, plot holes, out of character decisions etc.

Capitalism is like a parasite, it destroys the host and then moves on. This is why we need regulation and ‘red tape’…left unchecked ‘the market’ will always destroy itself when there are no more resources to exploit. We need to move away from consuming to stewarding and strong govt is key for that

It's not hard to catch fish sustainably - if you don't catch them all, and don't destroy their habitat, they reproduce Yet industrial fisheries seem determined to destroy themselves, and governments keen to let them This shouldn't be left to consumers

A single line in this piece just made my day: “The electricity system operator is understood to be preparing to run the grid without any gas for short periods as soon as this summer, in a first for the UK energy system.” Renewables *work*. And progress matters🎉 www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Britain breaks solar energy record twice as UK’s biggest solar farm gets approval

Record high set on Monday and raised on Tuesday, with 14.4GW of electricity generated in sunny spring weather

Before I became an American, I was Lebanese. Parts of my family live in Lebanon. Anyway, you don't need those bona fides to feel this way, but what is happening in Lebanon right now is a complete outrage. The people there, who mostly are just trying to carve out a living, don't deserve this.

It is so saddening and sickening that our govt continue to deal with Israel as if it is a partner country rather than a monstrous genocidal regime. Occasionally expressions of concern and appeals to restraint are worthless without concrete legal, diplomatic and economic action.

🚨 Israel is refusing to adhere to the regional ceasefire in Lebanon. If anything, it is intensifying its strikes. In just a ten minute period, there were over 100 airstrikes across the country. Hospitals are overwhelmed with victims. Don't look away from Lebanon.
