The only downside of Commanders' Palace after oral argument is maybe your panel has gone there too.

When he's dropping bombs on people, it's all him, but when he's in trouble, it's someone else's fault. Not very war fighter
“Back at Camp David, as he was confronted by Trump over the bare weapons stockpile, Hegseth defended himself and blamed his deputy, Stephen Feinberg, for the shortages and for not ensuring Trump was fully apprised of the issue, both persons familiar said.”
In 2006 office did not lock down telnet from office computers, so I watched a number of World Cup matches this way, via telnet. No one was the wiser.
@lgr-yt.bsky.social hey Clint, I jumped on that 'best way to watch Odyssey' meme and set it up so you can watch the trailer via telnet. Thought you might get a kick out of this
Food is definitely better but also most physical things are better?
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
Ca5 enjoins sort of obviously improper Texas law that only allows you to become an escrow officer if you live in Texas or a state adjoining Texas www.ca5.uscourts.gov/opinions/pub...
From my occasional dips into the dark parts of the internet out of morbid interest, today I learned a curséd euphemism: "living historically" You'll never guess what that means.
Boy, there's nothing like receiving a rudely worded bill for the ambulance ride where your dad passed away to unearth the New York trial litigator you've buried in you. Believe it or not, after my "explanation" it turns out the ride was covered.
For some reason, each time I open a tub of ice cream to take a taste before I buy, HEB expresses its disagreement with the way I buy ice cream by making me leave.
…til from a mis-addressed promotional email that my approach to buying ice cream is unusually lax
I think the "I am just a smoll bean" joke is overdone, but the Senate of the United States can't do anything to rein in the President is that joke.
Cornyn: "There's nothing we could do to rein in the president"
I bought it! Of course I bought it. What would I be if I didn't buy it.

As someone who checks the Fifth Circuit website most days, I was surprised to see a brand new website today. So far, the biggest difference appears to be a full-text search of opinions. www.ca5.uscourts.gov

Finally got around to reading the 0 stars review of Marcel in New York, and realized that the souffle described as tasting only of empty texture is $32! Also, the sides arms race in NYC has gotten untenable. $22 side spinach! www.nytimes.com/2026/07/28/d...
lol at the amount of cheating that would result in Trump shooting a 70 on a serious golf course.
Trump: “The Winning Shot in the Bedminster Club Championship! Thank you very much to all of those who participated. I won with a 70, & am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, bc I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it”
What kind of district judging is this? You give the government extra time? In a criminal case? Why? (Surprise! There's no remedy) media.ca11.uscourts.gov/opinions/pub...
If you're interested in big law drama, NYTs piece on how Scott Barshay (a famous and also famously unpleasant deal lawyer) gobbled up Paul Weiss is pretty good. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/02/u...

Burgum really is the worst because I've seen him interact with people pre-Trump (online) and he seemed smart and with it, so I know he knows we know.
I had not thought about what a Gondorian schlub has observed about hobbits but this is true
If you’re a Gondorian soldier your experience with hobbits is a tiny guy shows up with a wizard and is immediately taken in the Steward’s counsel. He saves Faramir when the Steward goes mad. A second tiny guy arrives with the Rohirrim and kills the Witch King. The first one then goes on campaign …
I love learning new vocabulary on the Internet 😍 (I knew about coprolites, but regurgitalites are new to me)
This feels like a great opportunity to talk about 'regurgitalites'. Coprolites are poop fossils, regurgitalites are vomit fossils. Both can contain useful details about digestion in dinosaurs. In the case of predators, sometimes we find new species (or at least pieces of them) IN the vomit.
As many avid swimmers know, and I only recently and embarrassingly found out, your Speedo™️ trunks, sooner than later, will disintegrate in hyperchlorinated water. I won’t be taking questions at this time.
Realized I have had appeals in 14 out of the 15 Texas intermediate appellate courts and am now grumpy about El Paso.
TIL the Won and Yuan are also derived from the same root as Yen. (when I saw this note I thought - WHAT OTHER YEN ARE THERE)

The total incompetence is funny, except that they dragged innocent people through the criminal law system to satisfy a lunatic's hurt ego.
BREAKING: The Trump administration has moved to drop its felony Reflecting Pool case against a former Olympic canoeist, admitting their allegations against David "Davey" Hearn don't hold water.
I think there is more chance that Hamas has agreed to be shot to mars by Elon than this headline being true.
A strong dissent from denial of rehearing by Judge Willett in McKesson - the case where the Fifth Circuit upheld liability for a Black Lives Matter leader when there is no evidence he had anything at all to do with a police officer's injury. 1/ www.ca5.uscourts.gov/opinions/pub...
