The purpose of using recruitment agencies is to weed out any candidates with "experience working democratically within academic structures" Next Edinburgh VC will have same world view as Mathieson, alas
There is a consultation among Edinburgh University staff and students as to what the (expensive third-party private sector) recruitment consultants should look for in our next Principal. My number one suggestion was experience working democratically within academic governance structures.
