Trying to use AI to create video caption files in different languages for YouTube. At first I was impressed when I did this with 1 file, but now that I am trying to do this with 16 files, it is getting very confused - it keeps returning English files instead of Spanish, or losing the timestamps

in the process of working through the scouts new online inclusivity training course, which has been created in a totally inaccessible, awful scorm package....

Yesterday I came off my road bike at high speed - luckily I managed to get away with relatively minor injuries (broken elbow) - so 1 handed typing for me for a bit, although will see how narration works as an alternative.

#Moodle peeps: I have 2 user profile fields (with same settings), both drop down lists, with a default value set. neither appear on the user facing new account page. When a user creates an account, 1 of the fields gets populated in user_info_data but the other doesn't. Any ideas?

Just had a client from over 2 years ago email me claiming they had paid me twice for a piece of work. They didn't double pay me, I just submitted 2 invoices in quick succession. Curious as to what has triggered something their end to spot this after all this time

Today one of my clients is carrying out a move from #Moodle Workplace to Moodle LMS - it has taken a lot of work to get to this point, I am both nervous and excited at the same time, and looking forward to a beer this evening. I will blog about the process once all done.

I want to share my experience today with Google support, trying to get Gemini (their AI/plagiarism machine) turned off in my Google workspace account. That account is where I personally do all my work communication—I am an editor, and most of my work contracts explicitly ban any use of Generative AI

After many months of preparation, next week one of my clients will make the move from Moodle Workplace to Moodle LMS. I am unaware of anyone else making the move in this direction - so I have had to work through lots of unknowns. A busy few days ahead for me.

Oldest son took me winter climbing yesterday. My first time wielding ice axes and crampons in anger in over 20 years. Was superb.

Park run completed (volunteered and ran). Weather today is rubbish, so working for rest of the day, then heading into the hills tomorrow instead.

Completed my 30th Parkrun of 2024 (17 different locations), although I am getting noticably slower, I still love doing them.

A bit of Xmas Eve ‘excitement’ as the electrics keep tripping. Managed to eventually isolate problem to dishwasher, so prospect of cooking turkey on camping stove averted…

Today I am carrying out some basic editing of videos (chopping up a long video into lots of shorter chunks). I am finding Microsoft's free ClipChamp - really easy to use for this purpose.

Interesting talking to oldest son (final year at uni) who tells me the standard behaviour is when it comes to creating a reference list, rather than referencing the actual sources they have used, they just use AI to suggest a list, and then blindly copy and paste the list into their assignment

In my attempts to make #Moodle multilingual, I need to increase char limit (from 255) on Activity names. I have done this at database level, so I can have names longer than 255, but if I then try and edit activity later, the interface stops me, as 255 limit still applied. How can I change this?
