This is deeply troubling. The Trump admin’s retreat on FEMA and related programs has opened this “opportunity.” Also, it’s a kind of reductio ad absurdum of the libertarian view that markets will solve all of our problems.

Look, I can forgive him compressing time—as we age, we encounter less novelty and time seems to pass more quickly. But it’s clear he can’t remember, and stalls to bring to mind, either the word or what happened in Venezuela. He’s lost in the moment and has to reorient. That’s dementia.
