At times I think back to when Republicans thought the media were "left-wing" This was so divorced from reality, but it presented the right an opportunity to make everything fascist Now I just miss the Washington Post and CBS

Today I feel like a middle-aged home owning dad I got a new blade for my lawn mower, changed the oil, and I am looking forward to mowing the lawn with the temperature already passed 90

I agree with this thread. Activism is only defined as pursuing advocacy outside some normal range. In demography, no one calls you an activist for assuming reducing mortality is an unquestioned goal. In political science, voter turnout is good; in economics, growth. etc.

I don't totally agree with this position and also have some questions. I'm curious what characterizes "heavily politicized and oriented around activism" and what is allowed and what is not. For example, much of academic economics has long been deeply intertwined with promoting certain worldviews..

My great-grandfather fought Fascism in Italy (a member of the Arditi del Popolo). Hid in the mountains while the rest of his family fled to USA. Finally joined them. He didn't fight Fascism and immigrate to stop others from doing the same
