jumping in late, but what i recall from my time at bear before the crash was that the mortgage market was worth $11T and the CDS market was worth $66T hearing it framed that way scared tf out of me as a kid back then it also makes plain Tankus's point about the magnitude diff from 2008
I get why layman make this argument but it doesn't hold together because there are now structural understanding of all the interconnections and we know why a liquidity crisis happened. There is no similar institutions or relationships to produce that now (from AI-LLM data center financing).
"LLM output isn't allowed in public docs, PR descriptions, or Github comments unless it's clearly marked; reviewers aren't required to look at LLM PRs if they don't want to." this is the way to go. I mark LLM addenda to PRs and comments with a 🤖 and their own heading or collapse under <details>

love it. all you have to do is factor in hours worked + inequality (reduced utility of marginal dollars allocated to already rich people), and we suck

nice, textured thread about AI and math. however I think it is risky to say such capability is unlikely to occur and the reason given is a classic bad one. it’s not obvious that the internal representations used by LLMs during mathematical reasoning are symbolic in a way human thought is not
