How Israelis can win together after this election - Jewish News

Turning promises into change will take the same people who have carried Israel through three years of war and grief

David Davidi-Brown, CEO of NIFUK, gives his initial reaction to the Israel election exit polls. According to Channel 11, the anti-Netanyahu bloc is projected to win more seats than Netanyahu's coalition group, though the final result is still unclear.

Today's election in Israel is vitally important for how any new government will approach the Israel-Palestine conflict. As the results come in, we hope they bring us closer to the future we work for: one of shared dignity, peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians alike.

The Green party’s move to equate Zionism with racism ignores the complexity of the term, argues David Davidi-Brown from the New Israel Fund UK

"One side says Zionism equals racism, the other says anti-Zionism equals terrorism. Both take a word that means different things to different people, choose its worst possible meaning, and pin it on everyone who uses it" - @daviddavidi-brown.bsky.social www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/politics/gre...

Friends I was marching with at London Pride were a few weeks later at Christopher Street Day in Berlin. Seeing some responses to an awful attack on our queer community, it feels needed but repetitive to encourage not expecting minorities to compete for compassion. medium.com/@david.brown...

I visited the powerful 'Testimonies from a Troubled Land' exhibit today in Hoxton, London. It features Israeli and Palestinian photography from Edut Mekomit, including war destruction in Gaza and Israel and life in the West Bank - hosted by the New Israel Fund. Well worth a visit if you’re nearby.

Pride should say come as you are. Queer activism should not be binary. Tired of explaining that caring about Israelis does not make us accountable for the Israeli govt. Fed up being quizzed on conflict overseas before being let in to local queer community. www.jewishnews.co.uk/there-is-no-...

There is no Pride in excluding Queer Jews

We all deserve to enter LGBTQIA spaces without being asked to prove our Jewishness meets the criteria others set for 'good Jews.'

Powerful photojournalism nurtures nuance and encourages empathy. We at New Israel Fund UK are delighted to be working with Local Testimony and Dana Wohlfeiler-Lalkin to bring a selection of their annual exhibition — including award-winning press photography — to London from 10–12 June.

We cannot effectively fight antisemitism if we tolerate other forms of hatred

We should be cautious about aligning with anyone who offers vocal support for Jews while expressing or excusing hostility toward Muslims, immigrants, asylum seekers or Palestinians

“let us invest deeply in interfaith friendship, education, and encounter. Because when communities truly know one another, fear begins to lose its power. We need coalitions strong enough, compassionate enough, and courageous enough to build a different future together.”

In Britain, Jews are demonised—and too few care

The recent antisemitic attacks make plain what many already feared: Jews have become dehumanised as symbols of Israel’s actions

I could live to be a thousand years old and not understand how people do not understand that the logic of 'blowback' only motivates you to do something if you are *already* racist.

‘Allies need to understand distinct ways anti-Jewish racism manifests, including around Israel. Jews & Israelis should be afforded compassion, not conflated with actions of Netanyahu’s govt. I have seen how afraid Jews in Britain have become. We need our allies now more than ever | David Davidi-Brown

Those supporting Israel need to challenge violence against Palestinian communities in West Bank. Silence is complicity. Those aligned with the Palestinian cause must confront globally growing attacks on Jewish people, communities and property. Minimising that threat undermines justice.

As Jewish ambulances are set ablaze, we must quell the flames of hate from Golders Green to the West Bank | David Davidi-Brown

‘Thousands of miles away, in activist and online discourse, Israeli civilians under missile fire – Jewish and Palestinian citizens – are reduced to symbols of a state rather than recognised as people seeking shelter. Jewish fear and grief are treated as inconvenient, or worse, simply ignored.’

Whilst worrying and being in touch with family and friends in Australia, I’ve been thinking about those murdered by terrorists and those whose loved ones were killed in terror attacks encouraging us not to succumb to rage and hate. @jewishnews.bsky.social www.jewishnews.co.uk/defiance-mus...

Painful to read and reckon with, powerfully and movingly written by Alona 🙏 For Israelis & Palestinians, those connected to them in UK, and cohesive communities everywhere, we have to hold multiple painful truths. We must avoid simple often hateful responses framing one “side” as innately evil.
