My friend Shaun has written a great piece on this recent photograph of a Black woman surrounded by masked men, and the ripples of meaning that spread from it. 'The camera had recorded a fraction of a second. The meanings attached to that fraction of a second accumulated rapidly afterwards.'

The afterlife of a photograph

When a photograph becomes iconic, what happens to the person inside it? A reflection on memory, recognition and photography's ethics.

Here is the progress on my latest commission. This cross is for the church in Llantrisant in oak salvaged from the church's bell tower which is undergoing refurbishment. The rays will be gilt with 24K gold and Oak will be fitted in between them.

The original batch of these sold out really quickly so I'm just seeing if there's an appetite for a second run somewhere around late October, so that you can buy them in time for Christmas gifts? Let me know and if there's enough interest then I'll work on getting some done by then :). #Photography

Trying not to wang on about this too much, but Changing Landscapes (my second zine) is available for £10 including (UK) postage. It contains many awesome ruins of houses, former industrial sites, abandoned vehicles... it's even got some sheep. #Photography www.mariegardiner.co.uk/zines-and-pr...
