Last week was the Budget; and this week has the US mid-terms. We have some powerful analysis and videos showing what the UK should do about both. sh1.sendinblue.com/mk/sc/6haEj1...
Why the Budget disappointed Burnham ...

Would this not have always been the case for all motions past and present? If so, why is this particular one a problem?
I am deeply saddened that the "Zionism is Racism" motion has passed.
Having attended my first @greenparty.org.uk Conference and comparing it with policy-making in the Labour Party, I found GP policy-making far more deliberative and far less open to manipulation. The process starts long before the final vote with lots of opportunities for members to participate.
Water companies want to be rewarded for their failure with even more of your money. Ask your MP to email the Chancellor ahead of Wednesday's budget. Stop the bill hikes and let them go bust! weownit.org.uk/block-bills-...

Tell Chancellor JOhn Healey - block the water bill hikes and bring Thames Water into special administration at the Autumn Budget

"The media has shown in a brief glimpse of unity, that it can act decisively and in unity to hold a politician to account ... they have decided to come all guns blazing for Zack Polanski. Why? Because they are terrified of him"
Me too - former Labour MP, Labour member for 50 years. Burnham, to my great regret, won’t address what’s holding back the real needs of people and planet www.newstatesman.com/politics/uk-...

Ethical cleansing - what Zionist Israel does. Zionism is racism.
HEBRON IS UNDER SIEGE. FAMILIES ARE LOSING THEIR HOMES. Since yesterday, 250 families have been displaced in Hebron, including my own sister, Hayat, and her seven children. Homes and shops are being demolished by the Israeli military.
Try several varieties? I can’t grow tomatoes outside at 1500 feet but poor crop this year prob due to drought. Have to grow courgettes under cover too. Really poor harvest due to drought (cucumbers too). On the other hand, currently havesting beetroot, carrots, chard & spinach. BBs sowed in modules.
And he's right: a Prime Minister who lets the BBC undermine everything he stands for is suffering from learned helplessness. We can't afford that now. See the Elephant. 99-percent.org/the-frog-the...

Watch this important video. And make sure your MP sees it too.
Since the beginning of Trump’s second term, American democracy has been unwound at frightening speed. Analysis by the V-Dem Institute shows the rate of democratic backsliding in US is faster than we saw in Hungary, India, Russia or Serbia And if we don’t take urgent action it could happen here too
Exactly. The government absolutely has the power to deliver renewal. But it suffers from learned helplessness. 99-percent.org/the-paradox-...

(2/x) ... you still have to check the results very carefully. The results are not written in a way that human mathematicians find easy to understand. AI can try huge numbers of different approaches more quickly than us. If the answer is buried in the literature, AI will find it better than us ...
Thread (1/x) Yes, that is a good point: I have used the free version of ChatGPT in that example. When I hear the world's best mathematicians talk about their interactions with (presumably) much better models, there is some similarity ...
(3/x) ... so they could be very useful. But they could probably not (yet) do the job of a really expert mathematician.
He’s also killed Burnham’s promise to bring in the biggest changes in forty years to the way the economy is run. Healey's first Budget offers about £70 a year now & a squeeze pencilled into the next Parliament, which voters will be asked to endorse before they feel it. vincegomez.com/articles/new...

Wouldn’t it be better to stop paying interest on their (secure) deposits in the Bank of England? & deal with the ridiculous situation of the “one club” mechanism of interest hikes the BoE has been mandated to use to “control” inflation -even when caused by factors unrelated to domestic consumption.
Taxing billionaires is not the real issue. It’s important for redistribution but not as important to transform the economy as the #FiscalReferees policy approved at GP Conference. www.newstatesman.com/politics/uk-... Also see @99organisation.bsky.social
