A pleasure to say a few words at this. I can't quite claim to have read the book as a five-year old back in the hot summer of '76. Have just read on the BBC that "the UK's first 'super-university', stretching across an entire region" is to be creaed by merging the universities of Kent and Greenwich, and I'm thinking it's a shame they've never heard of the University of the Highlands and Islands.
