Went from @bobby-lee.bsky.social's 'Hippie Balearica thing, imagining what the beatniks, hippies and outlaws who predated the emergence of Clubland might have been grooving to' to Pink Floyd's 'More' to learning Hawkwind covered 'Cymbaline' to admiring the drumming on that to remembering....

We think we have 'house elves'. Things just vanish. One of them being my copy of this, bought from Cobb Records, Bangor on the 6th Form trip to Snowdonia, 1982. They said 'Ask the elves out loud to restore it' - so I did. And it came to pass! (£5.99 from Oxfam, Winchester on a recent day trip)

It's the sleeve of the 1981 reissue rather than 1978 original but actually in better nick version of the Kate Bush LP 'The Kick Inside' held over the record playing

He said there was a track on it with harmonies worthy of Crosby Stills & Nash which despite my ANTI-PROG PREJUDICES drew me in. I played that and liked it, then played the 2nd most streamed track off it - ‘Ripples’ - and remembered Mrs H has the OG LP...so, yeah #NowPlaying #ConfoundingTheAlgorithms

Very hot days are perfect for revisiting Genesis’ “A Trick Of The Tail”. It sounded great during 1976’s long hot summer when it was fresh out, and it sounds just great in 2026’s heatwave too. It is, after all, an album that’s in part about fierce heat, endless drought and -poor squonks- extinction.
