Ruby Bridges was 6-years-old when she stepped into the history books. Bravely accompanied by her mother, she was the first Black child to desegregate an all-white school in the South. It was not long ago… Today is her birthday. She is still with us. She is 72. Happy birthday, Ruby Bridges 💜

At South Carolina's flagship, the governor, a senator, and a former WH staffer inserted themselves into the university's Presidential hiring process, if you can call it that a process. It resulted in a comically unqualified hire. Funny how THAT didn't launch any 1600-word Atlantic think pieces.

One thing I learned the past few days... evidently, many ppl online went to high school with none but the most hyper-literate, genius-level classmates. 100% of them could flawlessly read whatever you shoved in their face and filmed. I am terribly impressed.

Unfortunately, "Words that would end most presidencies," and similar charges, have too often resulted in an intensified focus on Trump as some kind of Pied Piper rather than the decades long degredation of the social forces that once could end presidencies in favor of a unitary executive.

It was unclear whether the president knew that negotiations had failed by the time he entered the arena for the U.F.C. Event to a Kid Rock song and thunderous applause.

In the midst of all this libidinal "kickin' ass," I am reminded of one of the many perfectly delivered lines by Morgan Freeman in Seven, modified for present circumstances. "It's impressive to see a national government feeding off its emotions."

“We were stunned [about the prescience] for a while, but we’ve really gotten to the point where it’s really sad. It’s just sad how predictable and lame and obvious and wrong it all is. Fascism is just a total fail in the end.” www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-featur...

‘Andor’ Creator Tony Gilroy Gives the Interview He Couldn’t During Its Release

While promoting his cautionary tale about fascism, Disney asked Gilroy to refrain from using the word. Nine months after it aired its finale, the 'Star Wars' series feels scarily prescient.
