A favourite in floral arrangements for ballrooms and assembly halls, it became associated with the vain coquette admired only for her appearance.

One of those genealogical coincidences: I'm not well-travelled, but researching a collateral line, I find a relative within walking distance of my childhood home (no surprise) but also have been a mere half hour's drive from where he is buried, near Muskoka, Canada. Small world!🍁

A couple of days in Gloucester, celebrating our Ruby wedding anniversary. Yesterday, Berkeley Castle and then we dropped into Painswick, home of a few ancestors. What a beautiful village! I will need to visit properly, in the future.

New rabbit hole: Grouping DNA matches on Ancestry, I found a one with common ancestor of a 3xg grandfather in a different line - 'illegitimate' birth? But 3xgg was by then living 42 miles away and had five brothers back home. Question is, is this biological fact or a mere hint? #ancestry #genealogy
