Got my 33rd NH 4000 footer today! Mt. Garfield. Another gorgeous day in the higher summits. 10 mi, 7hrs, 3k elevation gain. Summit candy: Milky Way and Yankee (brought back from Faroe Islands). No thru hikers seen on the short section of the AT to the summit.

New Paper! @debbiejsr.bsky.social and I have a new article shortening the Bem Sex-Role Inventory from 20 items to just 4 to allow more researchers to use it in national surveys. We demonstrate convergent and predictive validity for the 4-item battery. doi.org/10.1080/2156...

Absolutely perfect day to go up Franconia Ridge and get my 32nd 4000 footer in NH: Mt. Liberty. 8mi, 3k ft elevation gain. No AT thru hikers spotted. Summit candy: 3 musketeers and snickers. I expect to be quite sore tomorrow.

that same yougov survey asked people to compare their state to others and got similar results as I did. I asked if people think their state is better than, the same as, or worse than other states. 17% said worse; the rest were divided btwn better (43 %) and the same (41 %).

related finding: in my 2023 state identity survey, I asked, "If someone asks you what state you are from, do you say [state of residence] or do you say someplace else? 81% said their current state of residence. www.cambridge.org/core/journal...
