Apparently there was a bear in my yard, but no one told me. I was blissfully wandering around, picking flowers, and when I tried to get into the house, the door was locked. I reminded them that I was making dinner, and they said they could just get A&W. Sigh.

Our little town is having the annual fall festival. Today was the parade. Our local Conservative MP showed up, dancing in the back of a pick-up truck. No one booed, but my entire family (and others) turned their backs on him. Petty, but very satisfying.

It's a gorgeous day here, and we have stopped worrying so much about wildfires. I get to watch my 4 year old grandson be a fireman in a parade. Then I get to work in my garden. It's a day to be happy. Still, there's this tension that underlies everything. What a stupid time we're living in.
