“If you’re passionate about something, stick to it, even if you’re bad at it,” retired MSU art professor Alex Bostic said. “You’re going to eventually get good, & that’s what I teach my students. … Success is when talent & opportunity meet, so work on your talent because opportunities will come.”
Sigh…as the local librarian who is also a philatelist…and gets all the stamp related questions…the short answer is no. Sure, there might be a hidden gem in that stamp collection…there might also be a Picasso under that painting of dogs playing poker. But the odds, they are not in your favor.
Cards, coins, stamps, memorabilia and posters used to be handled by small, specialist dealers. Increasingly, however, auction houses are getting in on the action econ.st/49jenJ4 Photo: Eyevine

Wow. The number varied throughout the session but topped out at 76 attendees in this morning's online plagiarism workshop. Not bad for a less-than-exciting subject on a beautiful Starkville morning! #mississippistateuniversity #msstate
I am trying to post fewer collard pictures…but a plate of a collard dinner is such a thing of beauty! #Collards #ComfortFood
Well, my Friday just got a whole lot better! A colleague came by and asked if I wanted this great old set of stamp albums. Two volumes of the Scott specialty series for South America. There are some stamps but these are great old albums even without the stamps. ❤️ #philately
