When my buddy and I visited Whitby, I wasn't feeling well that day and had a terrible sore throat. I was worn out and couldn't take any more climbing, so I sat on one of those benches while my friend went and checked out the ruins of Whitby Abbey, visible in the background.

Flipping through what I realized was the wrong set of registers to find information about one ancestor, I stumbled upon the discovery that my Great x4 Grandfather, Cornelis Bakker, was Mennonite. Had no idea any were in my tree. That would've come as a huge surprise to my very Catholic grandmother!

Any #genealogy pals able to help me? I am trying to find a birth record for my great-great-grandmother who was born in Sydney Nova Scotia in 1903. Of course, this is in the gap when there are no civil records kept. The person in question is Methodist - so it looks like it should be UCC.
