WHY DECRIM IS IMPORTANT! The current WA laws grant s3x workers less rights than people working in other occupations. Police can issue move on orders to prevent s3x workers from being in certain areas. This is an inhumane and a totally unacceptable breach of human rights.
The WA laws allow police to ban s3x workers from inner city areas* *Prostitution Act 2000 part 5.

Under decrim, s3x workers will have clearer access to mechanisms like the Fair Work Commission and WorkSafe WA. In 1996 in the case "Phillipa v Carmel" a s3x worker sued her boss for unfair dismissal. This was one of the first cases in the world of a s3x worker getting compensation from a bad boss.

WA SW Laws are a barrier to safety and decrim is the only answer. Currently in WA we are permitted to work alone from a residence, alone from a hotel/motel, or alone from a client’s home. We can work in the broth, tho the broth itself is not legal.

Happy International Wh0r3s Day 2026! Right now there are laws in Western Australia that grant sex workers less rights than people working in other occupations. QLD, NT, NSW and Vic have all amended their laws to remove this discrepancy. Time for WA to do the same! #decrim #humanrights #IWD26
