finished up my very first oil painting today! Feeling extremely excited about this medium & am eager to do more. It’s like a closed door has been opened. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to take a class with Mark McKenna w/ my friends @goldendruid.bsky.social & @blindcoyote.com

I got to see some truly mind bending landscapes on this journey through Idaho & Wyoming. Driving through the Grand Tetons with my friend @goldendruid.bsky.social has been enriching all on its own, on top of all the learning about oil painting. I feel so lucky.

already putting together some digital sketches of the subject I want to attempt for my post class zoom call w/ the instructor 8) another iridescent bird, of some kind… I’m thinkin a raven 🤔

not a great photo but pretty happy w/ how this one shook out! May make a couple changes once I get home, but maybe not! I dunno. Brain is soup after 4 solid days of painting and learning 8) I had moments of extreme frustration, but learned a lot!

the realism rabbit was giving me too much trouble and I am exhausted, so I’m just practicing with familiar and known shapes today. This guy is gonna be super fun once I get the background on there

"fiction normalizes—" idk abt any of that but I think social media has normalized absolutely batshit behavior and social conventions that are inconceivable to anyone that is actually well-balanced and thriving in the real world and that's a bigger problem than fiction will ever be
