Veering westerly. Strong coffee, salt water, heather-bedded hillside. Europe West These conversations have been edited and condensed for clarity and brevity.
Zach Bryan came out saying FREE PALESTINE in the first show at Gillette Stadium since Ed Sheeran and Robert Kraft silenced Macklemore, AND he played a new, still unreleased anti-AI song and some of y’all are still sleeping on the liberatory potential of Americana
Zach Bryan just came on stage in Foxborough wearing a shirt that says FREE PALESTINE

“The Saudis are considering two possible options for the assault: Either a narrowly focused attack on the area around Bab el-Mandeb or a broader offensive that also includes other synchronized attacks on multiple fronts around Yemen.” What could possibly go wrong? www.reuters.com/world/asia-p...

So the G7 were coerced by the US into releasing strategic reserves of diesel in time for the US midterm elections with the threat to set the market on doubly on fire with a US export ban, in the midst of a US-orchestrated Gulf War which is about to... blow up some more.
There is a war in Europe. The US is considering banning shipping diesel to Europe. Not a lot of mathematics to that, is there.
Cursed to have Papa Roach enter my head on a Friday evening, before bedtime, 26 years after that song came out, and I never liked or listened to it. But here I am shoutsinging: "Cut my gateaux into pieces, this my sachertorte."
Saw one at Marseille airport, please enjoy this photograph of it parked beside a passenger transfer vehicle
Is America ready for low-speed electric runabouts like the $15,000, 25-mph Fiat Topolino? We gave one a try right here in Michigan: www.wsj.com/lifestyle/ca...

The European Commission: "We fully reject any ban on diesel. A ban would not be beneficial to anyone. It would undermine our trust in the United States as a reliable partner."
Oct 2026 and there's a financial press headline saying ”Gulf war pushes up borrowing costs"
The Beeb Reaper is going to try to come for 6Music again, isn't it?
Was really hoping we'd find out if the Fairford Vans were full of dildos or not by now. Pretty frustrating. Going to presume they were until further evidence emerges.
Still really struck by Frank Gardner on BBC News this morning putting Russia in the frame for an operation at Fairford. It made not a lick of sense.
"I'm noticing a lot of bombs and bombers on the bomber base next door that is used to bomb Iran and I have some concerns." Next up an Counter Terrorism police officer looking around and asking: "Is this... a legitimate target under LOAC?"
oh this might be about to get funnier ("funny haha" and/or "funny weird"

At least one person killed by the Russian attack on Kyiv city center. This is the historical center of Kyiv. Theater of Opera and Ballet and the building of Kyiv National University are nearby. The air raid alert continues and danger for Kyiv remains.
UK authorities fairly schtum. From the way it appears to have been called in, they were caught on the hop and must be chasing all links down.
Preparation for an Iranian knock-off of Operation Spiderweb is probably your most likely situation. Fairford's role in the attack on Iran is pretty analogous to Olenya's in the the attack on Ukraine.
And why no fuel protestors at Doonbeg? Why indeed.
Diesel at record high prices and why no trucker convoy in DC?
It is true that the world can be ugly at times, but it can also be very beautiful as well, full of miraculous wonders. Try to remind yourself of this as often as you can
"All road obstruction is exactly the same I am a very smart person do not question me because I cannot understand you. I cannot distinguish between the intent of different groups blocking different roads in different contexts of different events in different places at different times."
Unsurprisingly, if not intact, predictable. What remains to be seen is the nature of the attack, whether they managed to move manpads that far, or if it was more basic VBIED or mortars.

How did that PSNI submission to the Parades Commission about the Drumcree parade get written...
I don't want to just dunk on Bryant, who is new in post, but successive UK Govts have been profoundly complacent about the stability of NI even after several summers of rioting. That the Secretary of State is only coming to NI now is jaw dropping.
