Thanks to some people I met at #ElixirConfUS and a coworker who sold me his #Glove80 ergonomic keyboard, I've started learning to type all over again with the #Colemak-DH layout. I've gotten far enough in my learning journey that I can't type properly in QWERTY anymore. What have I done? 🤦
Reminder: our inaugural meetup is tomorrow at 7pm CET! @steffend.me will be presenting on the topic of running containers on Nerves. You can register for the event here: nervesmeetup.eu/meetup/conta... #ElixirLang #Nerves #Meetup
This is a new initiative that we’ve been cooking up for a little while, born out of a collaboration between @lawik.bsky.social, @dennispalmer.com, Chris Dutton (not on bsky) and myself Really looking forward to gathering the EU/EMEA Nerves community for a monthly meetup!
Following the wave of successful Global Elixir Meetups last week, we are excited to announce the launch of Nerves Meetup EU! We're a remote meetup with a focus of #ElixirLang on embedded systems via #Nerves. We meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 7pm CET via Zoom nervesmeetup.eu
The value I provide as a software developer has always been more about understanding the problem and discovering what users really need from a system than about the lines of code I write. An AI tool that writes code, even if it was perfect, will not replace the real work I do.
Trump is the cyber truck of the political world. It’s hard to believe something so ridiculous even exists.
#GenX became experts in the proper way to fill a paper grocery bag at 25 cents per bag loaded into a car. We switched to plastic bags to save the trees. We switched to reusable bags to save the oceans. We still pick paper bags given the chance. Groceries just never stack right in anything else.
Honored to make the highlight reel and to have my quote be the one mentioned in the post. Looking forward to this year’s conference.
''Meeting people who are passionate about the same technology you are, and building that community is an amazing experience.'' There's nothing better than connecting with peers and unlocking new ideas in the world of Elixir!💡➡️ elixirconf.eu #ElixirConfEU #ElixirConf #ElixirLang
This was the first year I finished every puzzle for #AdventOfCode. I used #ElixirLang in 2015, 2016, and 2017. I don't know where my code went for 2018 or 2019, but I used C# for one of them. I skipped 2020 and 2021 but came back to Elixir for 2022 to 2024. Thanks, @was.tl for the great 10 years!
This tracks with my experience moving to Sweden. I haven’t kept numbers but the percentage of people I meet here who own a business or work as an independent contractor is much higher than it was in the USA.
As crazy as it sounds, the best argument for single payer/MFA is capitalist in nature: it will supercharge small business, the self-employed and the hiring of contractors. Providing health care is hugely expensive for startups and prevents old pros w/families or health problems from taking chances.

Hello Bluesky! I’m an #ElixirLang developer at @erlangsolutions.bsky.social currently working on the PepsiCo eCommerce platform. I’m launching the Faith and Code podcast faithandcode.substack.com, so if you’re a #Christian and a software developer, I’d love to have you as one of my first guests.
Faith and Code | Dennis Palmer | Substack
I live in two worlds that don't often mix. When I'm with programmers I don’t always know how to talk about my faith. When I’m with friends and family I avoid talking about tech. This is a place where ...
