If there has been a shift it reflects the Rightwing co-opting of media and their post Citizens big money floating the system. But as you suggest, Dem Traditionalists would naturally embrace their New Deal roots.
DSA = naive idealism informed by a childlike understanding of human nature & the nature of effective governing systems. Wish they’d offered the Nordic model of mixed market capitalist economies. They’ll do some damage to the democrats’ chances of winning the next elections… hoping not much.

To Democrats and their eulogies: If you say that democracy is under attack by the Republican Party—and it is—and you say that the Republican Party represents an authoritarian threat—and it does—then civility and comity have already been murdered, and shows of comity are utterly incoherent.
I won’t be the hypocrite who loathes a man for how he lived, then utters banal proprieties upon his death. If death confers sudden personal merit & moral worth, I haven’t noticed. When an unprincipled man dies, should we pretend to weep & sing false praises? Better to let silence be his eulogy.
Lindsay Graham… died from a shattered moral compass. He was a smart man, but insecure, weak, small, cowardly.

Disgusting that Trump got a red card pulled. Fairly given or not, the ref’s call should stand. Bad calls are part of the game. No other team gets to have a call changed by their country’s leader. It’s cheating.

I can’t celebrate. I’m heartbroken. I’m grieving the loss of our nation. I’ll save my celebration for the hour that we are thoroughly rid of him, his corrupt cabinet, & incompetent appointed officials.
