Neuroscientist investigating chronic pain.

Super opportunity for grad students! @haleyv.bsky.social has been an absolute force in the lab, and a fantastic mentor to all team members. Can’t wait to see what she does @uottawa.ca School of Psychology!

I am beyond thrilled to share that I will be joining the @uottawa.ca School of Psychology as an Assistant Professor starting January 2027!! My lab's research will focus on cannabinoid neuroimmunology and behaviour. I am recruiting graduate students to start Fall 2027.

@descalzi.bsky.social lab is also hiring a PDF and PhD student, so come chat if you're interested in pain, astrocytes and behaviour. I'm biased, but it's a great training environment!!

What a super busy but wonderful #CAN2026!! Truly amazing talk and postern sessions. Super honoured to have co-moderated the EDI session on mobility in science yesterday with @camielnik.bsky.social!! Excited to present a snippet of some new data on pain and eCBs from @descalzi.bsky.social @P575

So much inappropriate use of AI; it will be the death of novel thought. I feel students using AI to research have somehow been mislead into thinking that summarizing papers is the same as reading and comprehension.

Come work with us. Huge strengths in MRI, neuroscience and musculoskeletal health and their intersections such as pain, child development or ageing. Preclinical and clinical research and translation are also big opportunities. Shoot me a note if you have questions.
