New paper from the lab, led by Sangyoon Ko (and a long-term collaboration with John Vincent at CAMH). The study revisits a basic question in modeling PTCHD1-associated autism: which exon should be targeted to best capture the human disorder? 🧵 can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com?url=https%3A...

Lineup, including trainee talks, is all set for this year's Neural Circuits and Behaviour Satellite at @canacn.bsky.social, co-hosted with @franklandlab.bsky.social . One week away, with a few tickets remaining for anyone interested! www.eventbrite.com/e/neural-cir...
Sharing the latest from the lab. Led by Yunlong Liu, this work explores how microglia and engram neurons interact during fear extinction in the hippocampus. rdcu.be/fgNH7
Microglia-dependent regulation of fear memory extinction
Nature Neuroscience - Liu et al. show in mice that microglia are recruited to the soma and dendritic processes of fear engram neurons during extinction learning and that they weaken fear memories...

Trainees attending @canacn.bsky.social 2026 Meeting - @franklandlab.bsky.social and I are co-hosting the Circuits & Behaviour satellite and seeking 4 trainee speakers (one of whom will receive a $500 "Best Talk" prize). Register by next Friday for consideration: www.eventbrite.ca/e/neural-cir...
New baguette alert. Been wanting to try Liberty Village’s Brodflour for a while, and today I got the chance. First of all, extra points for cool cafe vibe. Busy inside, and lots of people gathered outside with coffee cups doubling as hand-warmers.
Updated list: 1=. Amadeus 1=. Bricolage 3. Johnson family (NEW ENTRY) 4. Blackbird 5. Jules 6. Nord Lyon 7. Bomou 8. Pompette 9. Petite Thuet 10. Thobors
I'm always amazed by the complexity and nuance of the neuroscience of pain. In this Perspective, @simonbeggslab.bsky.social and @franklandlab.bsky.social do a great job of explaining some important new findings on the role of time in the mechanisms of chronic pain www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Ground hopping #3. In the posh seats at Fulham. Spurs always kicking off 😂
Save the date for the annual "Neural Circuits and Behaviour" satellite conference at the Canadian Association for Neuroscience annual meeting, cohosted by @franklandlab.bsky.social and myself on May 18, 2026. We have a great speaker lineup and will be selecting 4 trainees talks from our registrants!
Excited to continue my exploration of Toronto’s best baguettes. Next up the Johnson family bakery’s baguette (from the brother of @jimjohnsonsci.bsky.social)
Today was the final day of my three-month stay in Paul and Sheena’s lab. It was short, but filled with unforgettable moments. I love the lab, the people, and this city. I can’t put into words how grateful I am for everything. Thank you so much, @franklandlab.bsky.social and @sjo09.bsky.social

Now seen all the greats. Messi, both Ronaldo’s, Ronaldinho and Alan Devonshire.
In summary, we established whole-genome, multimodal single-cell history tracing, applicable to a wide range of experimental systems. Our lab is now applying HisTrac to study id specification and plasticity (e.g., memory) and we look forward to sharing exciting results soon!
