I understand it’s necessary but writing my AI section of my syllabus is soul-sucking. But this is where we are.
Excited to share the latest (and my first, as Editor!) issue of APA Division 15’s Newsletter for Educational Psychologists! @aeradivcgrad.bsky.social @aera-motsig.bsky.social #apadiv15

An R&R, new legal pads, and a bowl of grits (team salt &butter). I’m sealing my joy wherever I can find it.
If I could offer students one bit of…advice: be brutally traditional about what is printed on your degree. If you are first-gen or in any way non traditional, this goes double. Let rich kids get degrees in AI. You get something called “English”.
The danger is that degrees are regarded as worthless as nobody believes students have acquired any skills any more, at least not ones they couldn't have hot from just going into an office job from school.
We are excited to receive manuscripts for the Science Education Journal’s special theme on Critical Feminist Science Education starting November 1!! Have questions? onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

Just wolfed down a burger and Dr Pepper because I too, haven’t eaten all day. My hyper focus is a blessing & curse. 🥲
Women really be forgetting they haven’t eaten all day until they get a massive headache.
✨ New Publication Alert ✨ I’m very open about being a first-generation college graduate and I get asked a lot of my path to and through my Ph.D. This Autoethnography highlights pivotal experiences that led me from chemistry undergraduate to educational psychologist. psycnet.apa.org/doi/10.1037/...
LinkedIn feels too curated and influencer-ish. I post every and now then and immediately leave. Something about LinkedIn feels too forced.
Does anyone have tips on how to use LinkedIn as an academic not looking for a job? I'm sensing you 'connect' with people you know and 'follow' people you don't? Should I accept 'requests to connect' from people I don't know? Do we just post the same research stuff as here but with more cheerfulness?

I gotta find a new hair stylist and I hate that for me. You know how hard it is to find a loctician who can do microlocs and won’t send a “hey boo” text or have an aggressive, brightly colored website with unnecessary rules? I might have to become a DIY girlie 😭
Black woman in Trader Joe’s: I love your locs queen. Me: I literally smiled the rest of the day

This is the energy we all need to have, I echo @drtrmorton.bsky.social that we need boots on the ground! I’ll spare my musings but I believe boots on the ground has multiple meanings.
