@devyani.bsky.social of the Stand.earth Research Group has something to say about climate-killing methane released from LNG production: “Have we actually accounted for all the leakage along the whole pipeline? Have we accounted for the actual under-reporting of methane emissions...

When scientists have gone from calling unnatural disasters "climate change crisis" to "climate change classics" we have a problem. A problem perpetuated by a billionaire-backed fossil fuel industry who seem to think what is hurting us all right now, won't affect them.
'This is classic climate change': Sask. faces worst wildfire season in decades | CBC News
Saskatchewan is battling the worst wildfire it's seen in decades and experts say it's largely caused by climate change.

"Why are there so many fires burning in Western Canada?" Because #fossilfuels. Because highway expansion. Because subsidies for pipelines & fracking. Because #climatecrisis. Because politicians. vancouversun.com/news/wildfir... #bcpoli #mbpoli #saskpoli
There's a wildfire crisis in Western Canada. Why is this happening so early in the season?
A wildfire in northeastern B.C. has caused residents to flee their homes, while Saskatchewan has declared a provincial state of emergency.

Fast fashion staple Forever 21 just filed for bankruptcy in the US for the second time in 5 years, and is set to close hundred of stores. Is this a win for sustainable fashion, or just a sign of the times? Here are our thoughts, what are yours?
Our provincial government are such losers. They are still trying to find ways to cave into the trucker convoy three years later. The notion that the Eby gov is going to "make polluters pay" is absolutely laughable - no one comes out swinging harder in defense of LNG projects than the BC NDP.
B.C. scrapping provincial carbon tax after Carney kills it federally | CBC News
B.C. Premier David Eby says his government is drafting legislation to scrap the province's consumer carbon tax following a promise from Prime Minister Mark Carney to do the same.

Financiers and policy makers take note: LNG is not a climate solution, not on land, and not at sea.
Canada's key to decarbonizing marine shipping? Locking out LNG
Saying no to LNG and locking it out of current and future zero-emission pathways for the marine shipping sector is crucial to avoiding runaway climate impacts and tax payer boondoggles.

No, the world has not breached the 1.5C global warming target. It’s a climate target - which means it’s an average that must be sustained over at least a decade. We currently sit at 1.2 C. Which is already very bad. The science is clear: every bit of warming matters, every action matters.

I am a climate scientist and this is correct ⬇️
"every fraction of a degree matters" is true as hell. In the same way that releasing CO2 hurts people and planet, avoiding its release saves us from potential harm This isn't some saccharine 'hopeful' message: it's the hard, inarguable physical reality. www.ipcc.ch/report/ar6/w...
Cannot stop thinking about how Octavia Butler wrote a book in 1993 about climate change. It opens with deadly fires in LA in 2025. In the story, a fascist President has just won office with the campaign slogan "Make America Great Again." She was a modern day Nostradamus. If only we'd listened.
Remember that project 2O25 proposed privatizing the weather info? Wanna pay to know when a wildfire is spreading?
The LA fires are heartbreaking not only bc of the scale of the devastation but bc we've had 50 years to prevent it. The oil industry is responsible. They denied their own science & warnings, slowed down the shift to renewables and electric cars while making billions in profits. This is the result
Don't destroy their home and wonder why they invade yours. 💚
Every time I read the local news and see a teacher who was awarded a $250 grant for her classroom, I understand that she spent hours of her own time applying for it. Writing it. Going through a submission process. For $250. For her classroom…

The hood of this truck is taller than the van beside it and certainly taller than me. Can the driver coming out of the garage - on an upward slope - see me? Or will they crush me? It's a fun game I play on my walk to work each day!
The fossil gas lobby lost today in #Vancouver! The ban on gas space and water heating stands. Big thanks to little kids who sent pictures, regular citizens who gave moving presentations, builders who have proved it can be done, and councillors who chose the future over the past.
