Once again, people are not checking government statistics dashboards to see if the immigration rate has dropped sufficiently for them to return to the democratic mainstream.

I hate to break it to the European diplomat quoted in @politico.eu this morning, but increasing the return rate will make no difference to the far right. They will just move on to demanding forced remigration. It’s not like there aren’t hundreds of examples of this already.

Footage from the European Parliament after the regulation was approved showed far-right MEPs chanting "Send them back!" while left-wing lawmakers shouted "Shame on you!" Pushback: The first diplomat, who hails from a country backing the return centers, said: "We have a return rate of less than 30 percent. Unless you can improve on that ... the far-right will gain even more support."

I saw the movie "Palestine 36" last night. It is striking how so many repressive tactics from the 1930s are still in use today. And it was devastating to sit with the thought that 4 generations of my family have known nothing but this oppression.

Germany will have one of the lowest public investment ratios of all EU countries in 2025 (EU Commission forecast). The idea of just doing additional defence spending around the debt brake without reforming it - while Germany's infrastructure and economy crumble - falls short.
