We're now at $22,805 of the $50,000 goal for our legal defence. Thanks to the 238 people who have donated! Can we get past halfway before the weekend, to over $25,000? E-transfer info@thegrindmag.ca or pay by card at buy.stripe.com/6oE02D00TgZ4...

A summary of Toronto's mayoral race. All I think now is that every city needs a fabulous Mamdani and Canada doesn't produce mayors, or any politicians, with that level of people skills now. Nenshi had it but I think Calgary broke him.

While Brad Bradford can be mocked for flip-flopping on bike lanes and other issues, his support keeps climbing. Olivia Chow, meanwhile, is polling well, but is her base energized enough by her record to really show up this fall? New from @dgrdon.bsky.social.

Mayoral Race Far From Done Deal

While Brad Bradford can be mocked for flip-flopping on bike lanes and other issues, his message seems to be connecting with voters. The big question for Olivia Chow, after three years in office…

When @cjpme.org published a report in May detailing the Israeli government's secret and illicit activities to influence Canadian public affairs (a.k.a. foreign interference), it got zero media coverage here. So I looked into it for @TheGrindTO ... 🧵

While countries regularly lobby one another, at least four cases of Israel’s actions crossed the line into foreign interference because they were done in secret, according to a recent report. The Canadian government is so far not commenting. By @dgrdon.bsky.social.

Had a blast interviewing Amy Goodman of @democracynow.org and Carl Deal, co-director of new doc "Steal This Story, Please!", for this week's ep of the Green Majority on CIUT 89.5 FM. It airs today at 11 am, interview starting around 11:30 am. The film is at Hot Docs July 12 & 25.

Israel Engaged in Illicit Foreign Interference in Canada: Report A recent @cjpme.org report details how the Israeli government is covertly trying to influence Canadian public affairs. Canadian officials have yet to comment directly on the report.

Government officials have not responded to questions about a troubling new report published in May by Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East…

Asking the Government of Canada for comment on something and being sent on an infinity loop between various ministries and committees, none of them answering my questions. Unfortunately very common with foreign policy issues. Story coming soon.
